New in: Chinese clay p*e p*e boys. Used throughout China to test the temperature of the water for green tea. If the water is at the right temperature when poured over the p*e p*e boy, he p*es, simple as that...a great albeit slightly weird stocking filler idea :-)

Drink your way to a healthier you! The Chinese have been using tea for thousands of years for it's many health benefits.

The vast health benefits of Chinese green tea must not be missed:

1. Kills bacteria and aids digestion -

Green tea has been linked to the control of diarrhoea and inhibition of unhealthy bacterial growth whilst promoting a healthy stomach and digestive system

2. Fights aging

Several medical studies have shown that there is a high content of a very powerful antioxidant called polyphenolic catechins within green tea leaves, which can lower the amount of DNA damaging free radicals in the body

3. Assists weight loss

Studies have suggested that green tea can raise the Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), the rate the body metabolises energy, by 4 calories of the BMR per hour, which can last up to 5 hours. So just one small cup of green tea can help you burn an extra 20 calories...drink more, gym less!

4. Treats cold and flu

Green tea contains high levels of EGCG which can inhibit the two main components the flu virus uses to invade our cells, hemagglutinin and neuraminidase. Drink a few times a day in early spring and winter to boost your immunity and help fight the seasonal flu!

5. Lowers blood pressure and protects the heart

The antioxidant substances within green tea, including EGCG, may delay the development of hypertension and reduce blood pressure, according to a study in Norway. EGCG also helps to lower the bad cholesterol (LDL) by an average of 10% and has been shown to help prevent hypertrophy of the heart

6. Protection against electromagnetic radiation from modern devices

Electromagnetic radiation emitted by all of our modern devices can effect our bodies. Both epicatechin and vitamins present in significant quantities in green tea can help to inhibit the oxidation of radiation harm

7. Early evidence of anti-cancer activity

Although the mechanism appears to be currently unknown, several research studies have published anti-cancer effects from regular drinking of green tea

Since visiting China on my travels, I have become fascinated by the delicate art, beauty and uniqueness of Chinese tea culture and learning about the importance of tea in everyday Chinese life. As a prolific British tea drinker, I have enjoyed exploring the deep history and extensive health benefits of the many highly sought after loose leaf tea varieties and sampling the exquisite calmness of the Chinese tea ceremony. Due to sparsity in Western countries, not many are aware of the interesting customs of Chinese tea. Through Tea by T, I aim to bring some of the colour of these traditions into our own homes to help rejuvenate the nation's favourite drink.
