That stubborn skin texture you just can’t seem to get rid of? It could be acne.

Most people think acne only looks like red, inflamed spots. But often, it starts much more subtly.

Non-inflamed acne is made up of open comedones (blackheads) and closed comedones (those tiny under-the-skin bumps that never seem to disappear). They form when pores become clogged with excess oil and ‘dead’ skin cells.

If those clogged pores stick around long enough, bacteria can multiply inside them, leading to the red, inflamed breakouts most people recognise.

The tricky part? Non-inflamed acne is notoriously stubborn to clear. Those clogged pores can happily sit there for months 🥲 That’s why clearing it isn’t about finding a quick fix - it’s about consistency, patience, and the right treatment plan.

Here’s how we cleared my lovely client’s skin:

✨ Regular bespoke in-clinic treatments, including WISH Restoraplex Peels and Dermalux LED Therapy.

A personalised homecare routine featuring:
✨ WISH Calming Cleansing Gel
✨ WISH Mandelica 5% Serum
✨ WISH Micro Moisturiser
✨ WISH Light Magic SPF 30

The result? Smoother skin, fewer clogged pores, and healthier skin that continues to improve over time.

We’re our own worst critics.

We see ourselves every day, scrutinising every little detail in the mirror, which can make it so hard to notice the progress we’ve actually made. It’s easy to forget where you started.

That’s why I always take photos at your clinic appointments. They’re one of the best ways to objectively track your progress and celebrate the changes that are easy to miss day to day.

So here’s your reminder: take the photos, trust the process, and don’t forget to be a little kinder to yourself along the way 🤍

I’ve got some big news… ✨

After 15 years of nursing in the NHS, I’ve made the decision to step away and focus on Skintervention full-time! 🫶🏻

I won’t be leaving nursing completely - I’ll still be keeping my skills up with the occasional ITU shift and teaching Advanced Life Support - but the time has come to dedicate myself to Skintervention full-time.

As all of my lovely clients know, this has never just been a job to me. It’s my passion, my hobby, and something I care deeply about. Having struggled with my own skin for so long, helping others feel confident in theirs means everything to me.

This next chapter means I’ll be able to help even more of you, and I honestly can’t wait. 🫶🏻

I already have so many exciting things planned, so keep your eyes peeled… 👀✨

Thank you to every single one of you for trusting me with your skin and supporting my journey. I’m so grateful, and I can’t wait to see what’s next.

Laura x 🤍

Rosacea isn’t “just sensitive skin” - it’s a chronic inflammatory skin condition that affects millions of people. While there isn’t a cure, there are effective ways to get it under control and significantly reduce flare-ups.

Many people come to me after trying countless products or having the occasional facial, hoping for a quick fix. The reality is that rosacea isn’t something that can be resolved with a one-off treatment. Successful management requires a consistent, long-term approach.

My approach combines assessment, evidence-based treatments, barrier repair, trigger management and personalised homecare. Every treatment plan is tailored to your skin, helping to reduce inflammation, strengthen the skin barrier and support long-term skin health - not just temporarily improve the appearance of your skin.

Managing rosacea is about understanding your skin, treating the underlying inflammation and giving it the right support over time.

If you’ve been struggling with persistent redness, flushing or flare-ups, know that you’re not alone - and with the right plan, your rosacea can be effectively managed 🫶🏻

Let’s talk about ‘hormonal acne’ 🤭

One of the biggest misconceptions is that hormonal acne must mean your hormone levels are abnormal.

In reality, most people with hormonal acne have normal circulating hormone levels. The difference lies in how the skin responds to those hormones - particularly androgens.

The skin contains androgen receptors that can increase local androgen activity. In some individuals, these receptors appear to be more active or more sensitive, leading to:
✨ Increased oil production
✨ Increased inflammation
✨ A higher likelihood of clogged pores and acne lesions

Hormonal acne most commonly affects the lower face, jawline and chin.

Ever notice you break out the week before your period? During the late luteal phase of the menstrual cycle, oestrogen levels begin to fall. Although androgen levels don’t necessarily increase, their effects can become relatively more pronounced. If your skin is particularly sensitive to these normal hormonal fluctuations, oil production and inflammation can increase - creating the perfect environment for breakouts 🥲

So what can we do?
💫Reduce excess oil production
💫Target inflammation
💫Normalise skin cell turnover to prevent clogged pores
💫Optimise other factors that can contribute to acne severity, including stress, sleep, skincare habits, and underlying conditions.

The good news? Hormonal acne is treatable.

If you’re struggling with persistent breakouts, DM “ACNE” to learn more about your treatment options.
