One of the questions I get asked most is, “Does an e-file damage your natural nails?”

The answer is: not when it’s used correctly by a trained professional.

I use a range of e-file bits because every client is different. Skin type, cuticle growth, nail condition, and sensitivity all vary, so using the right bit for the right area helps me work safely, gently, and effectively.

My preferred prep method is a Russian manicure technique, which focuses on detailed cuticle work to create a clean finish and allow for precise product application. When carried out correctly, this can help achieve a neat finish and improve product retention.

An e-file isn’t about being aggressive—it’s about having the right bits, the right training, and knowing exactly how and when to use them. In trained hands, it allows for controlled, precise nail preparation while respecting the natural nail.

Beautiful nails start with healthy nails, and that’s always my priority. 💅✨
