I know. It’s the 1st of October. 😂

Nobody wants to hear about Christmas yet.

But every year I get people coming in quite close to something coming up, and I’m thinking
I wish you’d seen me a few weeks earlier.

Not because you necessarily need anything done earlier.

Just because it’s nice to have time.

Time to have a chat.
Time to think about it.
Time to change your mind if you want to.

So yes, your Christmas appointment might be in October.

Sorry about that. 😂

The radiators are back from their summer break and apparently they’ve got something to prove. 😂

If your skin’s suddenly feeling a bit drier, rougher or just looking a bit meh, it doesn’t necessarily mean you need to completely overhaul your skincare.

The weather’s changed.
The heating’s gone on.
Your skin’s environment has changed with it.

Sometimes the answer is considerably less exciting than Instagram would have you believe.

And no, your skin is not detoxing summer.

Someone please tell the skincare industry.

Radiator BeyoncĂ©, however, is booked and busy until March. 💀

“I just don’t want it to be obvious.”

I get some version of this a lot.

And “obvious” means different things to different people.

Some people would love someone to say, “God, you look well.” They just don’t want the next question to be, “What have you had done?” 😂

Other people couldn’t care less who knows.

That’s why I’ll usually ask a few more questions rather than deciding what “subtle” means for you.

Your version might be different to the next patient. And that’s how it should be.

Could someone explain 99 Nights in the Forest to me please?

I know you need wood. I know the fire is apparently VERY important. And there are children somewhere that need rescuing.

That’s it. That’s all I’ve got. 😂

Which is probably what my patients feel like when I start saying things like “volume loss.”

I do try not to. If there’s a normal way of saying it, that’s what you’ll get from me.

Anyway.

What’s with the moose?!

There’s a funny thing that happens sometimes in consultations.

People almost apologise for being there. đŸ„ș

They’ll tell me they’ve always said they’d never have anything done, or that they feel a bit silly because the thing bothering them is probably something nobody else has even noticed.

You really don’t have to explain yourself to me.

If something’s bothering you, tell me.

That also doesn’t mean I’m going to get a magnifying glass out and find another five things you hadn’t noticed. 😅

We’ll talk about the thing you came in to talk about.

Like two normal human beings.

That’s pretty much it.

One thing I’d add to this: your pores haven’t necessarily physically got bigger just because you’re suddenly noticing them more.

Sometimes it’s the skin around them that’s changed.

Oilier skin can make them stand out more. Changes in collagen as we age can affect the support around them. Sun damage can play a part too.

And sometimes you’ve just bought a magnifying mirror and discovered things no human being was ever supposed to see. 😂

So if you’ve noticed a change in your pores, try not to diagnose the problem from three inches away in the bathroom mirror.

What’s changed around them is sometimes the better question.

You might come in and tell me your pores look bigger.

Then, while we’re chatting, you mention that your skin feels rougher or your makeup doesn’t sit quite right anymore.

These kind of observations are super duper helpful.

Microneedling can help with certain types of uneven skin texture, but I’d need to have a look at your skin before deciding whether it’s suitable.

But if you’re hoping it’ll get rid of your pores altogether, I’m afraid I have some disappointing news.

You kind of need those đŸ«Ł

I use ChatGPT every day đŸ‘ŒđŸ»

for making stoopid images of myself to make you laugh.

And of course I don’t mind patients looking things up before they come to see me. If you’ve read something and you’re curious about it, ask away.

But I’ve spent years training to understand this stuff, and I still need to see someone in person before I can tell them whether a treatment is suitable.

ChatGPT hasn’t met you. It doesn’t know your medical history or what your face actually looks like.

So bring your questions. I’m quite happy to talk through what you’ve found.

I’ll just be taking over from ChatGPT at that point.

Anyway. Those Speedo pictures aren’t going to make themselves. 😏

You don’t need to come armed with a list of questions. This isn’t an exam 😂

Sometimes someone comes in with just one thing they want to ask me. We talk it through, and that might be all they need.

I allow 30 minutes for a consultation because I want there to be time for the conversation to go wherever it needs to.

You might think of something else while we’re chatting. You might want me to explain something again. Or you might get your answer in five minutes and be perfectly happy with that.

I’m not sitting there with a stopwatch. 😆

And you don’t need to have treatment to make the appointment worthwhile.

If there’s something you’ve been wondering about, you’re welcome to come and have a chat at my clinic in Aylesbury.

Biscuits potentially included. I’m working on that bit. đŸ€·đŸ»â€â™‚ïž
