🔥 LOAD vs CAPACITY 🔥
Pain and injury don't always happen because an exercise is "bad"... They often happen when the load placed on a tissue exceeds its current capacity.
🏃♂️ Load = the stress placed on your muscles, tendons, and joints through training, work, or sport.
💪 Capacity = what those tissues can currently tolerate and recover from.
When training load increases too quickly, more weight, more reps, more running, more sport, your tissues may struggle to keep up. This mismatch can lead to pain, reduced performance, and potentially injury.
The answer isn't always to stop loading.
The goal is to gradually build capacity through progressive strength training, appropriate recovery, and sensible load management.
📈 Increase capacity over time, and the loads that once caused pain become manageable.
Train smarter, not just harder.

I'm very excited to be working alongside different health are professionals as I've been at it for the last 4/5 years myself. So it was time for a change.
Let’s normalise sitting in “funky” positions 🤷🏻♂️
HEAR ME OUT 👇🏻
There’s nothing wrong with sitting upright with your shoulders relaxed, chest open, and head in a neutral position, especially if you’re working at a desk for long periods. These habits can definitely help reduce strain on the body.
But the reality is… there’s no single 'perfect' posture.
What matters more is how long we stay in the same position.
Our bodies are designed to move, adapt, and change positions regularly. Problems often start when we become too sedentary, sitting for hours at a time, moving less, exercising less, and generally asking our bodies to do less.
Over time, this can contribute, but not limited to..
- Back pain
- Neck stiffness
- Muscle weakness
- Reduced mobility
- Tingling or discomfort in the arms and hands
Research is also showing that posture itself may not be the direct cause of pain people once thought it was.
Instead of stressing about sitting “perfectly”, focus more on:
✔️ Moving regularly
✔️ Changing positions often
✔️ Building strength and mobility
✔️ Finding exercise or activities you actually enjoy
The best posture is usually your NEXT posture.
Now be honest… who else sits in funky positions?

Not all pain feels the same 👇
Trying to figure out what your pain might be linked to.. then here’s a quick way to spot the difference:
⚡ Nerve pain
- Burning, shooting, or electric-like sensation
- Can travel along a specific pathway (e.g. down an arm or leg)
- May include tingling, numbness, or weakness
🦴 Joint pain
- Deep, achy, or stiff feeling
- Often worse after rest or first thing in the morning
- Movement may feel limited or uncomfortable
🧵 Tendon pain
- Sharp and easy to pinpoint
- Often aggravated by repeated movement or loading
- May feel stiff at first, then ease with movement
💪 Muscle pain
- Sore, tight, or spread across a larger area
- Can become more noticeable when stretching or using the muscle.
The way pain presents can give clues about which structure may be involved.
Different types of pain can overlap, making symptoms harder to describe and sometimes confusing to interpret.

3rd year placement 1 - Coming to an end 🏥
This has certainly been my most challenging placement to date. From helping to treat a mix of very acutely unwell patients, to post surgical patients and amputees. A fair mix I have been exposed to over the last 6 weeks.
There are lots of things to reflect upon, learn from, and implement moving forward 📈
I am looking forward to getting back to university, and getting stuck back into work.
