First live model in the bag 🎯🤩
Huge confidence booster for Matthew this week! In just 5 weeks he has absolutely nailed his first cut and done it with great attention to detail with very few step ins/help from myself! Here we have a 1 back and sides with a little taper and a rework of the top after a poor prior haircut. Collapse of the parietal ridge (rounding of the head) accompanied by the crown area being heavily shortened as you’ll see the reminents from the finished article. Matthew had to deliver a recovery cut to allow the regrowth in certain areas as well as cut the top/fringe accordingly. No picture from before the cut but I can assure you this was an excellent job considering what Matthew had to work with.
A major milestone and positive outlook for coming months! ✂️ Exciting times!

We are delighted to announce a new addition to the team here at Alter Ego! will be be joining us as of this Friday🙌🏼 Jake is a highly skilled and experienced barber who has honed his skills primarily in Australia and has decided to move back to Scotland with his partner and 6 month old son😁 Bookings can be made with Jake on a Wednesday, Friday and Saturday to begin with👍🏼✂️ Keep an eye on our Instagram/Facebook for updates on his journey within the shop and for special offers in the coming weeks!
Week 2 complete 💥💥
What a great start for Matthew who is absolutely smashing it considering he had never even held a pair of scissors or clippers just two weeks ago. Here we are moving into his 3rd week of the our barber tuition and mentoring programme! We’ve covered a vast amount from basic clipper work to clean sectioning and scissor cutting🤩 Week by week we build on our technique and fluidity which creates confidence at each stage of the cut!
We will continue to document his progress over the coming months so stay tuned for updates!
