That’s a wrap!

After 7 years in Distinction with 5 of them as Nailed It! I am finishing up in the salon and going on maternity leave. I will update everyone in the new year with regards to my plans for starting up again but for now I am relaxing and spending time with my wee team before the new arrival ❤️

Cheryl and Alana I honestly can’t believe I have never managed to get a drink with u both! Will defo arrange a head wetting to rectify that tho…I’ll defo miss all ur drama! If u don’t write a book about ur dating experiences I’ll be extremely disappointed hahaha and Alana please girl, stay safe! I have never met anyone else quite like u lol❤️

Linda Loo! I have loved working with u over the years and was so happy to have u come back to us, I’ll never know the story behind ur big straw tho and that upsets me lol❤️

Linzi, I’d like to say it’s been a pleasure but……😂😂 only joking honey it’s been great working with u, never known one persons personality light up a room so much as urs, will defo miss ur laugh ❤️

Stacy, thank u for giving me the push I needed all those years ago to go self employed, it was never a consideration for me at the time but was the best decision I have made. Thanks for al the advice, tough love, honest options and generosity over the years ❤️

And wee Ruthy, just as Dorothy said to the Scarecrow, I’ll miss u most of all! Love u and our friendship, we have been thru a lot over the time we have worked together and just know I am always here for u whenever u need anything. From late night phone calls to getting lost on nights out to words of encouragement when needed we have had it all ❤️

And finally, to all my clients, past present and future! U are what kept me in business all these years and made me certain I was doing the right thing. Each of u have had an important part to play in my development over the last 5 years and I love u all.

My next update will be featuring a wee bab…so place ur bets on boy or girl now 🤣

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Effective from this week I am no longer able to take card payments. As many of u know I have had to move back to my old machine and I’m now waiting until the following week for payments to clear due to the wknd not being classed as a ‘business day’.

I am more than happy to accept bank transfers or PayPal however and can u give u my details when u are in.

Sorry for the inconvenience however I will have a new card machine in place for when I return to work after maternity leave tho so this is only temporary.

Hi all! I’m filling up fast and my only available appt is Thursday 4th August at 3pm, after that my next appt isn’t until Friday 19th August 🙌

Quickest summer holidays yet!

Can I remind all clients to test before their appt if they have any covid symptoms OR are living with someone who has tested positive. The new symptoms include feeling like u have the cold so please be vigilant. More than ever I want to protect myself and baby and I also don’t want to miss any of my working days especially as I am so busy.

Also a reminder that no children are allowed in the salon with u for ur appt. This is a ‘one rule for all’ policy and myself and the girls would appreciate u respecting our decision🥰

Finally, a reminder to be punctual for appts, I know parking and public transport isn’t great at the moment but everytime a client is 10 mins late it has a knock on effect to other appts and can result in me working thru my lunch break which is not something I’m prepared to continually have to do while pregnant.

How dare you charge a fee when you didn’t deliver the activity !

Crazy right?

Actually, nope.

Booking deposits, and cancellation fees are becoming a very common factor in the small business world.

And you know what?

THEY SHOULD BE.

Think of it like this…

Could you call British Airways after no showing for your flight and expect a refund?

Nope

Could you imagine calling easyJet and telling them you can’t make the flight leaving in an hour but you’d like a seat for free on the flight an hour later?

Nope.

We work like a flight. Once the plane has gone, the seat has lost its money.

Same as your space.

When you work in a business where you trade time for money, time IS money.

So when people don’t want to pay for your time, and you put it on loan with no collateral, you risk losing that money.

Now, I know times are tough and odd and weird.

Costs are rising.

People are worried about money.

But we aren’t talking about booking vs not booking.

We are talking about booking space and paying for it vs not paying for it.

That’s very different.

Booking deposits and cancellation policies are in place to -

Protect the small business owner
Reassure the client
Make an agreement between two parties, official.

An agreement that says you’ll give your time, in exchange for money.

A small business owner should never feel guilty for putting a £ sign on their time or product.

It’s what every single business has ever done in the entire history of time.

Except the ones that didn’t. And they didn’t last.
