Can a male PT support women through perimenopause and menopause? 🤔

I came across a post recently that said male fitness coaches/PT shouldn’t be giving advice to women during menopause.

It made me think.

The truth is, I’ll never know what it feels like to experience hot flushes, brain fog, sleepless nights, sore joints or the emotional and physical changes that come with perimenopause and menopause. I wouldn’t pretend that I do.

But does that mean I can’t help?

I believe there’s a difference between claiming to understand someone’s lived experience and having the knowledge to support them.

As a Level 3 Menopause Practitioner, my role is to listen first, understand each individual and provide evidence-based guidance on strength training, movement, recovery and lifestyle habits that can make a real difference.

For me, this stage of life isn’t about simply telling someone to “lose weight.” It’s about helping women become stronger, protect muscle and bone health, improve energy, build confidence and continue doing the things they love.

Every woman deserves to feel heard, supported and empowered—regardless of whether their coach is male or female.

What matters most is that they have the right knowledge, empathy and willingness to listen.

⚽️ Aspiring Fitness Coach wanted for Football Camp (20th –22nd July)

Are you passionate about fitness and football?

Looking to gain valuable experience in sports coaching or physical education?

I’m looking for a reliable and energetic individual from age 15+ who is interested in supporting upcoming fitness football sessions between 9.30am - 11.30 at Burnett Park, Banchory from 20th to 22nd July.

This is a great opportunity for:

- Teenagers or aspiring coaches from 15 years + interested in a career in Sports Coaching or Physical Education Teaching.

- Individuals looking to gain experience working with children in a dynamic, team-oriented setting.

The individual must have:

✅ Enthusiasm and a positive attitude

✅ A keen interest in fitness and football

✅ Reliability and professionalism

✅ Ability to motivate and engage young players

Experience is a bonus, but not essential – the right attitude is what counts!
