MOBILITY MONDAY π§ββοΈ
This week's movement is Lat Foam Rolling πͺ
The lats can get a fair bit of work without you necessarily realising it.
Pull-ups, rows, pressing, lifting, carrying, swimming, even spending a lot of time at a desk can all have you using them throughout the day.
A bit of time on the foam roller can be a simple way of giving the area some attention and getting a bit of movement through the side of the back.
Lie on your side with the roller underneath your lat, just below the armpit, and slowly roll down towards your mid-back.
You don't need to absolutely destroy yourself on it either π
Take your time, breathe and adjust your position as you go. If you find a particularly tight spot, hang around there for a few breaths rather than attacking it like it owes you money.
And remember, foam rolling is just one tool in the toolbox. It's not about trying to fix everything with a roller. Sometimes a few minutes of movement and some consistency is all you need.

CONNECTING THE DOTS π§©
When you come in for an appointment, I get an hour or so to work with you.
But your body has another 167 hours of the week to deal with everything else life throws at it π
Work.
Driving.
Sitting.
Sleeping.
Looking after the kids.
Walking the dog.
Hobbies.
Training.
Or maybe just spending far too long in one position without realising it.
All of those things can be relevant when we're trying to understand why something is feeling tight, uncomfortable or just not quite right.
That's why I ask questions that sometimes seem completely unrelated to the area you're complaining about.
If you've got a sore shoulder, I want to know what your working day looks like.
If your lower back is bothering you, I want to know how much time you spend sitting or driving.
If your legs are feeling tight, I want to know what you've been doing differently recently.
The appointment is one part of the picture.
What happens outside the appointment is another.
And sometimes, that's where we find some of the missing pieces. π
MOBILITY MONDAY π§ββοΈ
This week's movement is Hamstring Foam Rolling π¦΅
After Granite Grit recently, and Proving Grounds: The Assault this weekend, there's probably a fair few hamstrings around Deeside that are feeling a little more worked than usual π
Foam rolling is a simple way of getting some movement through the hamstrings and giving them a bit of attention after training or competing.
Sit on the roller, place it underneath the back of your thigh and slowly roll from just above the knee towards the glute.
Don't just absolutely batter the sorest bit you can find π. Take your time, breathe and work through the area at a pace that's comfortable for you.
It's not about trying to make everything ridiculously painful. A few controlled minutes can be plenty.
And you don't need to have just competed in a race to use it. Running, squatting, deadlifting, cycling, walking or even spending too long sitting down can all leave the hamstrings feeling a bit tight.
Give it a go and see how they feel afterwards!

GRANITE GRIT 2026 πͺπ
I'm back at Granite Grit for another year! π
I'll be there helping everyone get ready to go and then helping you recover once you've finished.
I'll be offering pre and post-event massage sessions throughout the day, so if you're competing, make sure you come and find me!
Whether you need a little bit of movement before you hit the floor, or your muscles need some attention after you've given everything you've got, I'll be there to help.
Always a brilliant event to be part of, and I'm looking forward to seeing everyone throwing themselves around again! π
See you there! πͺ

CONNECTING THE DOTS π§©
Something I regularly suggest to clients is doing a bit of foam rolling and mobility work between appointments.
And there's a reason for that.
I can spend an hour working on an area with you, but then you leave the clinic and go back to doing the things that your body has to deal with every day.
Training.
Working.
Driving.
Sitting.
Running around after the kids.
Whatever life throws at you.
That's why I don't want your treatment to just be about what happens on the table.
A few minutes of mobility work or foam rolling at home can help you keep moving between appointments and gives you something you can actually do yourself.
It's not about spending an hour every night stretching yourself into a pretzel π
It's about doing little things regularly.
The appointment is one piece of the puzzle. What you do between appointments is another. π§©
