After over 30 years at Timothy Smyth Hair Design Ltd in Albert Street, and more than 40 years as a salon owner, the time has come for me to finally hang up my scissors.

As I look ahead to a long, happy and healthy retirement with my lovely wife, Jane, my heart is full of gratitude.

To all my amazing clients — thank you. For your loyalty, your kindness, and your friendship. Many of you have been with me for over 40 years, and in that time we’ve shared so much of life together — marriages, births, celebrations, and also some of the more difficult days. It has been a privilege to listen, to chat, and to be part of your lives in a small way.

Hairdressing was never just about the hair — it was always about the people and the friendships.

I would also like to take a moment to thank all the wonderful staff who have worked alongside me over the past 40+ years. Each of you has played a part in the journey of the salon, and I am truly grateful for your hard work, loyalty and support over the years.

It’s hard to believe this chapter has come to an end, but to all my valued clients, I truly hope I’ll bump into many of you in the days ahead. Your kindness and generosity, especially at this time, has meant more than I can ever put into words.

A special thank you to Laura, who has stayed with me right to the very end. She has been such an important part of the salon, and I am incredibly grateful. I wish her every success with her new business, “Laura Ashley”, now based at 19 Enterprise Road.

Wishing Helen, of Belleza by Helen, every success too, as she relocates to 19 Enterprise Road after over 7 wonderful years with us.

Finally, from both Jane and myself — thank you. It has meant the world to us.
