January, at just 16 months old, Olivia was diagnosed with tumours in both of her kidneys. She has been receiving chemotherapy since February and initially was responding to treatment however an MRI scan in November showed that the largest tumour in her right kidney had stopped responding to treatment and had started to grow bigger again.

Olivia had surgery at the end of November to remove one of her kidneys and spent 8 days in hospital following this. Unfortunately, the results from her surgery were not what her family had hoped for and it was found that the vast majority of her tumour was made up of cells which had become resistant to the chemotherapy she has been receiving. There are still some smaller concerning areas in her left kidney and due to the results of the tumour that was removed this means that she will now need a more intensive chemotherapy for a further 6 months in order to hopefully remove this cancer from her little body.
