Hi! It’s a long time since I’ve been on here! But, wanted to update a change in direction for my What Sue business.
At the end of 2024 I formed a Community Interest Company with a fellow enthusiastic potter!
Mud & More has become my one stop shop for all balms, plants and indeed mud.
It’s taken some establishing but we are about to licence all of the balms and intend to use them to raise funds to supplement the work we do in our inclusive studio.
Please visit our page if you’re interested in the workshops I ran (full autumn program including balms, bread, pickles and indeed pottery.

It’s now five years since I launched my ‘What Sue’ business!
So many changes have seen me grow this from the first attempts at making balms to expanding into the fairs and my sister page Gentle Gardener’s.
It’s all been about skill sharing, it’s my mission in life to see these ancient crafts be part of modern day life, lest we forget.
Now, it’s time to share a change in direction.
I’ve formed a Community Interest Company with a business partner, Vicky Hindle. Our Company ‘Mud & More’ is an inclusive art offering, designed to meet the needs of our community. We are aiming for an inclusive offering where folk can play with clay, learn about native plants, grow their own food and much, much more.

Our monthly fairs begin again in March, again there’s a change in how it’s organised! The fair has been rebranded as Market Town Makers to reflect the change in direction. Think artisan local produce, made here in Teesdale.
New year, new direction! Thank you to everyone that has supported me this far! Hang on, it’s about to get even more exciting! Thank you 🙏

Thank you Teesdale Day Club!
I had a beautiful 3 course lunch before delivering my talk on Plant healing and medicine.
It was a lovely setting, to deliver this talk, as many of the plants that I use were grown in the grounds of Startforth Community Centre.
We chatted native plants, their traditional uses and how this knowledge is being lost from many families familiar.
I grew up knowing what plants had medicinal value, my Mum had great plant knowledge, but it took me decades to start using them myself.
Startforth is the home of my micro business Gentle Gardners, thank you to all the volunteers that have supported me there these past 15 months. Looking forward to returning in the Spring for more community food growing and of course plant chat!
