⚠️ Please be careful when buying jewellery online. ⚠️

This isn’t a scare story, and it’s certainly not about telling people where they should or shouldn’t shop. I just wanted to share a recent investigation by The Sunday Times, who had jewellery bought from Amazon independently tested by the Birmingham Assay Office.

Some items advertised as “925 sterling silver” were found to contain extremely high levels of cadmium, a toxic metal that is illegal in jewellery above very small amounts in the UK. Following the investigation, the marketplaces involved removed the products and took action against the sellers.

Unfortunately, it’s not always possible to know what you’re getting when buying jewellery online. Terms like “sterling silver”, “surgical steel” and “hypoallergenic” don’t always guarantee that a product is genuine, especially if it’s from an unverified seller.

Whether you buy jewellery from me or somewhere else, I’d always recommend buying from reputable businesses that can tell you exactly what their jewellery is made from and, where appropriate, provide evidence of the materials they use (I can provide evidence).

✨ A friendly reminder about my ID policy for children’s piercings ✨

The safety and wellbeing of every child who visits my studio is my top priority, which is why I have an ID policy in place for all children’s piercing appointments.

Please bring:
• Valid, in-date photo ID for yourself.
• Valid, in-date photo ID for your child.
• Your child’s full birth certificate.

If you’re your child’s legal guardian rather than their biological parent, please also bring documentation confirming guardianship, along with your valid, in-date photo ID.

These checks are simply there to make sure every child is being brought by the correct person. I know it can seem like a lot of paperwork, but I hope you’ll agree it’s an important safeguard.

Unfortunately, if the required documents aren’t brought to the appointment, I won’t be able to carry out the piercing and the booking deposit will be lost, as the appointment time has been reserved.

To avoid any disappointment, please take a moment to read through my policies before your appointment. They’re included throughout the booking process to help everything run as smoothly as possible.

I was absolutely fighting for my life at Ava’s leavers assembly this morning. What a gorgeous school Montalbo has been, I genuinely would recommend it to everyone. I couldn’t be more grateful to the teachers and staff, especially Mr Min, for the care, consistency and kindness shown to both my eldest and my youngest over the last decade. I can’t believe that this is the end of primary school now and I’ll never hear 🎶 Montalbo rocks! 🎶 again. On to the next chapter though 💖
