✨ WHY I LOVE LACTIC ACID IN A SKINCARE ROUTINE ✨
If your skin is looking dull, uneven or a little lacklustre, lactic acid could be a great addition to your routine.
Lactic acid is an AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) that gently exfoliates the surface of the skin, helping to loosen and remove dead skin cells.
The result? 👇🏼
✨ Brighter, more radiant skin
✨ Smoother skin texture
✨ Helps improve the appearance of pigmentation
✨ Can soften the appearance of fine lines
✨ Helps prevent that dull, congested-looking surface
✨ Supports better hydration than some other exfoliating acids
And here's something many people don't realise...
Lactic acid is also a component of the skin's natural moisturising factor, which is one reason it can be a lovely option when you want exfoliation without reaching straight for more aggressive acids.
But remember — more exfoliation does NOT mean better skin.
The correct strength and frequency should be chosen for your skin, and acids should always be introduced carefully alongside a good barrier-supporting routine and daily SPF. ☀️
Not sure which active ingredients your skin actually needs?

Good skin isn't about using everything. It's about using the right things. 🤍

A TITLE COMES WITH TRUST.
When you see “Dr” on an aesthetics page, what do you assume?
For many patients, that title immediately communicates medical training, regulation, accountability and trust.
But an overseas medical qualification does not automatically mean someone is GMC registered or licensed to practise medicine in the UK.
And that distinction matters.
This isn't about questioning somebody's education or qualifications in another country. It's about transparency and patient safety here in the UK.
Patients deserve to understand who is treating them, what their professional role is, which UK regulator they are accountable to, and whether their registration can be independently verified.
In aesthetics, titles carry weight. They can influence who a patient trusts with their face, body and health.
Professional titles should never create a misleading impression about someone's UK registration or regulatory status.
Before choosing any practitioner, ask: • What is your professional qualification? • Are you registered with a UK healthcare regulator? • What is your registration number? • Who regulates your practice? • Are you appropriately insured for the treatment you're providing?
For doctors, you can check current registration and licence status directly on the GMC Medical Register.
This isn't about tearing other practitioners down.
It's about informed consent, transparency, accountability and putting patient safety before marketing.

A man sold an invisible sculpture for £18,000… and here I am trying to convince everyone to wear SPF every day. 😂☀️
No sculpture. No materials. Nothing you can actually see.
Meanwhile, I’m over here explaining that the thing you can’t always see happening to your skin — UV damage — is contributing to pigmentation, collagen breakdown and premature skin ageing.
Apparently selling invisible art is easier than selling daily SPF. 😭
So this is your friendly Nurse Gemma reminder:
WEAR. YOUR. SPF.
Yes, even when it’s cloudy.
Yes, even when it’s not hot.
Yes, even when you “never burn.”
Your future skin will thank you. 🤍

Beautiful lips aren’t created by simply adding filler. 💋
They’re created by understanding anatomy.
Every lip is different — the Cupid’s bow, vermilion border, tubercles, philtral columns, underlying muscle, blood vessels and the relationship between the upper and lower lip all matter when planning treatment.
For me, lip enhancement is about working with your natural anatomy, not fighting against it.
It’s knowing where to add volume, where to create definition and, just as importantly, where NOT to inject. The goal isn’t to give everyone the same lips. It’s to enhance the shape you already have while keeping your features balanced and recognisably you.
Technique matters. Product choice matters. But anatomical knowledge, assessment and experience are what bring everything together.
Natural. Balanced. Beautifully enhanced. 🤍
Beautiful lips happen by appointment, not by chance.

It’s about doing what YOUR skin actually needs.
Over the next 12 weeks, we’re combining professional treatments, personalised skincare and ongoing clinical guidance into one completely bespoke skin programme.
No trends.
No one-size-fits-all routines.
No buying products your skin doesn’t need.
Just a plan designed around you.
£149 PER MONTH × 3 MONTHS
YOUR SKINCARE. YOUR PRESCRIPTION.
We start with your skin.
Whether your concern is ageing, pigmentation, breakouts, texture, dullness or simply wanting healthier, more radiant skin, your homecare will be selected specifically for your individual needs.
This is where I’d use your white SkinRN moisturiser image, styled almost floating through the page like the product imagery in your second inspiration image.
BESPOKE SKINCARE RANGE INCLUDED
Your products are chosen following consultation rather than everyone receiving the same routine.
Where prescription-only skincare is clinically appropriate, this requires individual assessment and prescribing rather than being automatically included or guaranteed.
RESURFACE. REFINE. GLOW.
CHEMICAL PEEL OR DERMAPLANE
Your skin determines the treatment.
Some skin needs resurfacing.
Some needs brightening.
Some needs gentle exfoliation and barrier support.
We'll choose the option most appropriate for your skin at that point in your 12-week journey.
NOW WE BUILD.
RADIO FREQUENCY OR MICRONEEDLING
This stage focuses on the quality of your skin.
Depending on your assessment, we'll select either Radio Frequency or Microneedling as your professional collagen-focused treatment.
Think firmer.
Smoother.
Healthier-looking.
More refined.
Not changing your face — improving the skin you're in
When the other day job feels like a fun day
✨ WHY IS SKINCARE SO IMPORTANT?
Because great skin isn’t created by one facial, one injectable or the latest viral product.
Your skin is with you every single day — and what you consistently put on it matters.
A good, clinically-led skincare routine can help to:
🧬 Support healthy skin renewal
✨ Improve texture, tone & radiance
💧 Strengthen and protect the skin barrier
☀️ Reduce further UV damage & pigmentation
🎯 Target concerns such as acne, redness and uneven tone
⏳ Support collagen and help slow visible signs of ageing
🤍 Maintain and enhance the results of your in-clinic treatments
Think of professional treatments as the boost and your home skincare as the maintenance.
And more products doesn't necessarily mean better skin.
The key is using the right active ingredients, at the right strengths, for YOUR skin — consistently.
As an Aesthetic Nurse Prescriber and skin specialist, I don't believe in chasing every skincare trend. I believe in creating evidence-led routines designed around your skin, your concerns and your goals.
Healthy skin is an investment, not a trend. ✨

TREND OR CLINICALLY PROVEN? 🧪✨
Skincare is having a moment.
Every week there’s a new must-have ingredient, viral cream or product promising glass skin, smaller pores, fewer wrinkles and a completely transformed complexion.
But viral doesn’t mean clinically proven.
And the words “clinically proven” don’t always mean what you think they do either.
Look beyond the marketing.
🔬 Was the finished product actually tested, or just one ingredient in it?
📊 How many people were included in the study?
⏳ How long was it tested for?
📸 Were the results objectively measured or simply self-reported?
🧴 Are the active ingredients present at concentrations capable of actually making a difference?
Beautiful packaging, celebrity endorsements and thousands of TikTok views tell you how well a product has been marketed — not necessarily how well it works.
At SkinRN™, I’m far more interested in formulation, active ingredients and evidence than what happens to be trending this month.
Because your skincare shouldn’t just look good on your bathroom shelf.
It should earn its place there.
Nurse-led. Evidence-focused. Results-driven.
