And I swear it’s not because Hairdressers are obnoxious. We are just so used to shouting over the hairdryer all day that we think it’s an acceptable level to talk at!

When you're in my chair, I got you 😜

1️⃣Sometimes people can be so rude to us about this chosen career.
They assume it’s “just playing with hair” or a hobby, not realizing the skill, dedication, and long hours it takes to build a successful career in this industry.
2️⃣ After a long day behind the chair, I don’t always have the energy to be social.
I give so much of myself to my clients that sometimes, when I get home, I just need silence.
3️⃣ Hairdressers can feel incredibly lonely, despite being surrounded by people all day. We pour into others, listen to their stories, and hold space for their emotions, but that doesn’t always mean we feel seen or heard ourselves.
4️⃣ I still get nervous before a big color correction. No matter how many years I’ve been doing this, the pressure to deliver the perfect result never fully goes away.
5️⃣ There are days when I feel completely drained—mentally, emotionally, and physically. This job isn’t just about hair; it’s about connection, creativity, and problem-solving.
6️⃣ I learned more about being a hairdresser in my first five years than I ever thought possible—and I still believe I’ve learned more in those early years than I have my entire career. The foundation of this industry is built on experience, and those early lessons still shape me today.
7️⃣ I wish more people understood that this career requires constant learning. Trends, techniques, and products are always changing, and staying on top of it all takes time, money, and dedication.
8️⃣ The camera roll on my phone is 90% hair pictures. And yes, I analyze those pictures later, thinking about how I could tweak or improve my work.
9️⃣ I give my clients hair advice that I don’t always follow myself. I preach self-care and maintenance, but I’ve let myself get too busy to keep up with my own hair more times than I’d like to admit.
🔟 I reassure my clients, listen to them, and encourage them that things will work out—but they don’t realize how long I think about our conversations afterward. I carry their words with me, wondering how they’re feeling now and hoping they’ve found peace in whatever they’re going through.
