This time, we transformed longer, grown-out hair into a fresh, textured short style with a gorgeous soft peachy copper finish. 🍑 The new cut is full of movement, easy to style, and really lets the colour shine.

✨ MEET THE FACE BEHIND SHORTKUTZ ✨

We’ve had lots of lovely new followers recently, so I thought it was the perfect time to introduce myself!

Hi, I’m Kerry, the proud owner of Shortkutz, and I’ve been running the salon for the past 8 years. ❤️

Before opening the salon, I had the incredible opportunity to work onboard P&O Ventura as a hairdresser. During my time there, I took part in hair shows, met people from all walks of life and gained so much confidence. It was an experience I’ll always be grateful for and one that helped shape the stylist and business owner I am today.

When I opened Shortkutz, I had one clear vision…

I wanted to create a salon that felt different.

Let’s be honest, our industry can sometimes have a reputation for being cliquey and judgemental. I never wanted that. I wanted to create a space where every client and every member of the team felt welcome, relaxed and comfortable from the moment they walked through the door.

A place where nobody feels judged.
A place where you can truly be yourself.

Over the last eight years, I’ve learnt so much—the good, the bad and everything in between. Every challenge has helped me grow, and along the way I’ve discovered where my real passion lies.

✨ My specialities are:
💜 Perming and creating beautiful curls and texture.
💜 One-to-one appointments.
💜 Hair transformations that help people feel confident again.

One of the things I’m most proud of is that Shortkutz has become known as a safe and welcoming space for our neurodiverse clients. I work with many autistic, anxious and non-verbal clients, and watching their confidence grow over time is honestly one of the most rewarding parts of my job. Every appointment is tailored to the individual because everyone deserves to feel comfortable in a salon.

Many of you will also know me through our pamper parties. We’ve now hosted thousands over the years (I’ve completely lost count!). Growing up, I loved parties and discos, so I wanted to bring that same fun, excitement and confidence-building into the experiences we create for children and families.

More recently, I’ve found another passion through our hairdressing workshops and our homeschooling programme. Helping young people discover the hairdressing industry, build confidence, learn new skills and realise their potential is something I genuinely love. Watching our students grow, not just in their hairdressing ability but in their confidence too, makes me so proud, and I can’t wait to continue developing this side of Shortkutz.

If you’ve been coming to me for a while, you’ll probably know that I’m not very good at putting myself first! I’ve always been someone who puts others before myself, and sometimes that’s my biggest strength… and sometimes it’s my biggest weakness. But I genuinely care about every person who walks through the salon door, and knowing I’ve made someone’s day a little brighter means more to me than anything else. That’s what Shortkutz has always been about. 💜

A little bit about me…

I live in Bickington with my amazing family—my partner Joe, who I’ve been with for almost five years, our beautiful daughter Isabella, who is now 22 months old and absolutely loves singing and dancing, and of course Dizzy, our much-loved therapy dog, who visits the salon every four weeks on a Saturday and loves meeting all of our wonderful clients. 🐾

Thank you to every single person who has supported Shortkutz over the last eight years. Whether you’ve been with me from the very beginning or you’ve only just found our page, I’m so grateful you’re here and I can’t wait to welcome you into the salon.

✨ Exciting News… We’re Soon to Be Open on Tuesdays! ✨

As many of our lovely clients know, Kerry currently spends Tuesdays creating beautiful hair for the wonderful residents at a gorgeous care home in Ilfracombe.

After a lot of thought and one very big decision, Kerry has decided it’s time to step away from that role and dedicate Tuesdays to Shortkutz.

With everything that’s been happening recently, our regular clients will know just how busy we’ve become. We are almost fully booked every day we’re open, and with Kerry juggling appointments, admin, social media, orders, emails and everything else behind the scenes, having an extra day at the salon has become essential.

💇‍♀️ So, what does this mean?

Very soon, Shortkutz will be open on Tuesdays!

Tuesdays will mainly be our admin day, so online booking won’t be available as standard. Kerry will be using this time to:
✨ Reply to messages and emails
📞 Return missed calls and voicemails
📦 Place stock orders
📱 Keep on top of social media
🗂️ Catch up on all the behind-the-scenes jobs that keep the salon running smoothly

However… if you give us a call or pop in, you might just be lucky enough to grab an appointment if Kerry has some spare time available! 🤍
