Almost every week I have someone in my clinic show me a picture of a celebrity and ask me to make them look like that. And almost every week, I say no. Not because I can’t do the work, because the work isn’t what they actually want. The faces you see on Instagram aren’t real faces. They’re edited, filtered, filled, and often surgically altered in ways you can’t see in a photo.

The clients who leave my clinic looking their best are the ones who came in asking me to keep them looking like themselves. Not like somebody else ❌

You’re probably layering your skincare wrong 🧴

The order you apply your skincare in actually changes whether it works. The rule is thinnest to thickest, water-based products go on first, oil-based products last. So it’s cleanser, water-based serum, eye cream, moisturiser, then oil or SPF on top. Anything heavier applied too early creates a barrier that stops everything after it from getting through. Most people are just layering blindly, and then wondering why nothing’s working.

The truth about home microneedling 🏠

If you’ve bought a home dermaroller off Amazon or somewhere similar and it hasn’t done anything, you’re not doing it wrong. The tool is. Home rollers barely break the surface, they have to be safe for anyone to use without training, so the needles are really short. The problem is, most of what makes microneedling actually work happens further down. Collagen response. Skin remodelling. Improvement in scarring and texture. None of that gets triggered by a home device. Clinical microneedling uses controlled depth, sterile conditions, and a device that’s calibrated for your skin.

Three red flags in any aesthetic clinic 🚩

If your practitioner can’t tell you what qualifications they hold, that’s a red flag. If nobody’s asking about your medical history properly before treatment, that’s a red flag. And if the whole consultation feels like a sales pitch, if you feel rushed, if every answer is yes, that’s the biggest one of all. Aesthetics is medicine.

A good practitioner will always slow you down before they speed you up 🚨
