Why I won’t over-file your natural nail (and why no one should be) ✨

There’s a common myth in the nail industry that product only lasts if the natural nail is heavily filed first.

It doesn’t.

Retention comes from correct prep, controlled technique, and proper product application — not from thinning your nail plate.

Your natural nail has protective layers.
When those layers are aggressively removed:
• The nail becomes thin and flexible
• It bends under product
• It’s more prone to peeling and splitting
• Growth becomes weak and inconsistent
• Removal feels damaging

If your nails feel paper-thin after gel or BIAB removal, that isn’t because “your nails are just weak.”
It’s usually because the nail plate has been overworked.

You should be able to remove your product and still feel confident in your natural nails.
