Hey my angels ✨

So lately I’ve been thinking a lot about just how much of ourselves we give to other people.

People often think hairdressing is just doing hair, but it’s so much more than that. Over the years I’ve laughed with people through some of the happiest times of their lives, and I’ve cried with people through some of the hardest. I’ve heard stories of loss, heartbreak, illness and so much more.

It’s one of the things I love most about my job. The trust people put into me is something I’ll always feel blessed for. But if I’m completely honest, being a person who feels everything quite deeply can be really heavy sometimes. I take a lot home with me and struggle to switch off.

Then I walk through my front door and become Mum.
My boys are my world, but life isn’t always easy which most of you probably know. They’re both neurodivergent, and alongside the day to day ups and downs of family life, there’s appointments, meetings and working with different people and services to make sure they’re getting the support they need. It’s always an uphill battle as I’m sure many of you know with your own kiddos.

I think that’s why Im becoming a little more protective of my energy lately. And i don’t want to ever come across that I don’t care, it’s the fact that I care too much sometimes.

Burnout is real and it creeps up without you even knowing sometimes. Then before you know it you’re running on empty.

So if I take a while to reply, or choose a quiet evening over being busy, please know it isn’t personal. I’m just learning that protecting my peace isn’t selfish. It’s how I make sure I can keep giving my best to everyone around me.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that you can’t keep pouring from an empty cup.

So here’s to looking after ourselves a little more… because we deserve that too 🤍
