Has anyone else had a strange or uncomfortable experience with a local garage or dealership — especially as a woman?
I’m now on day 12 without any transport after taking my Fiat 500e to our local Fiat dealer for what should have been a straightforward service.
I was suddenly told the car was “unsafe to drive” — but given no evidence, no diagnostic report, no explanation, and no courtesy car.
Just a statement, and then silence.
It’s made me realise how many women I know have felt talked down to, dismissed or intimidated around car issues — and I’m starting to wonder if this is something a lot of us in Bath have experienced too?
I sketched something today because it captured the feeling:

I’m also updating and journalling this whole journey daily on my LinkedIn because I’m trying to apply pressure — not just to Fiat, but to the wider car industry and the way women are still regularly treated in garages.

Just to be clear, not all garages are like this — we have some brilliant ones locally.
Larkhall Garage, for example, have always been utterly wonderful.

A little personal update… 💛
Not brow-related,
but definitely woman-related.
My Fiat 500 has been at the dealership for 11 days after a safety claim that came with no evidence.
And the way I’ve been spoken to has opened my eyes…

It’s highlighted something bigger:
how often women — especially Fiat 500 drivers — get dismissed, fobbed off, or spoken down to in garages.
So many women have messaged me saying:
“This has happened to me too.”
I realised… this isn’t just my story anymore.
