Your tongue piercing will heal beautifully as long as you care for it properly. Here’s everything you need to know:

🔥 What to Expect

It's normal to experience:
• Swelling (especially in the first 3–5 days)
• Tenderness
• Slight lisp
• Increased saliva
• A yellowish/white healing film (NOT infection)

These are all part of the healing process.

🌿 How to Clean Your Tongue Piercing

✔ Rinse your mouth with alcohol-free mouthwash 2–3× daily
✔ Use a warm saline rinse after meals
✔ Brush your teeth gently and keep good oral hygiene
✔ Drink plenty of water to help reduce swelling

🚫 Avoid These While Healing

❌ Alcohol (can irritate and slow healing)
❌ Smoking/vaping (increases infection risk)
❌ Kissing or oral sexual contact
❌ Spicy, acidic, or very hot foods
❌ Chewing gum
❌ Playing with the jewellery
❌ Changing the bar too early

Approx. 4–6 weeks, but this varies from person to person.
Once swelling goes down, you’ll need to return to have the bar changed to a shorter size — this prevents damage to teeth and gums.
