I know I’ve posted this Christmas thumb many times before 🫣 I definitely need more seasonal content (or any content, I’ve literally not painted my own nails since Aoife was born 🙃) but this post isn’t about nails, it’s about Operation Community hamper (formally known as Operation Christmas Hamper)

OCH is a charity started in 2020 by my friend Charlotte who together with her merry team of helpers have been collecting gifts and luxury food items to help provide families who, for various reasons, may need a little extra help.

Each year they reach out to the local community for help in providing little gifts and supplies for food hampers to help make these families Christmases extra special.

Back in 2020 they were able to help 19 families with hampers and gifts. In 2021 the team had referrals for 47 families of whom all got hampers and many got gifts. The number rose to 340 in 2022 with all families receiving hampers and many receiving gifts. Last year OCH provided both hampers and gifts for over 656 local families. This year they have received over a thousand referrals, that’s over a thousand hampers AND gifts for all members of the family. So many people will be helped thanks to the generosity of the community and, of course, the incredible work of Charlotte and her team.

We at Glow would love to help support OCH again in collecting food and drink items for the hampers so we shall be placing a box in the salon for donations from now until Saturday 7th December. There is absolutely no pressure at all but, if you were able to add any of the below or similar items to your shop and bring them to your next appointment I know that just like previous years, they would be greatly appreciated. The items they are looking for are those little luxuries that I know I take for granted such as Ribena, Pringles, hot chocolate, selection boxes, tubes of sweets, mince pies etc
