🦫 Skills Challenge Night: Flipping the Script! 🦫

Our Beavers were putting their focus, speed, and creativity to the test tonight as we worked toward our Skills Challenge Award!
The theme of the night was "Opposites," and we kicked things off with some high-energy games:
The Opposite Game: This really kept everyone on their toes! If a leader shouted "CATCH!", the Beavers had to HEADER the ball. If we shouted "HEADER!", they had to CATCH it! Plenty of giggles as we tried to retrain our brains. ⚽🧠
Opposite Relay Races: We turned our brains into high-gear as teams raced against the clock to match up opposite words. Speed was key, but so was knowing your near from your far! 🏃‍♂️💨
To cool down, we got creative with some "Notan-inspired" art. The Beavers made these incredible positive and negative space pictures. By cutting shapes and flipping them out, they created these striking symmetrical designs that look like professional gallery pieces! 🎨✨
Check out some of our masterpieces and action shots below!

If your interested in joining our group the Beavers (aged 6 to 8) meet on Thursdays from 5.30 till 6.30 at Brucefield Church in Whitburn

From Campfires to Bullseyes! ⛺️🏹
It has been a non-stop run of adventure for our Beavers!
We started off with an amazing weekend camping at The Craigs. The colony took to the great outdoors like pros—roasting marshmallows, sharing stories around the fire, and braving their night away under the stars.
The excitement didn't slow down, either! On Thursday, they were back at it, taking aim with some archery and getting a hands-on tour of a fire truck. All of this goes toward their Adventure Challenge Badge, and we couldn't be prouder of how they've stepped up to everything we have thrown at them
Well done, Beavers! 🚒🔥

To the real experts in "Being Prepared"...Happy Mother’s Day from the 7th Whitburn! ⚜️
To all the mums, grandmothers, and carers in our scouting family: thank you for everything you do. From washing mud-stained uniforms, finding lost neckers, packing the perfect camp bag, or providing the best hugs after a long hike, to encouraging us to try new adventures, you are our biggest supporters.
We hope you have a relaxing day (and maybe even a break from the "Scout laundry" pile!).

🛠️ Coming Soon: The Explorer Community Bookcase! 📚

Happy World Book Day! 🌎📚
While you're celebrating your favorite stories today, our Explorer Scouts are busy behind the scenes building a brand-new way for our community to share the magic of reading.

✨ What to expect:
Free Books: A rotating library for everyone to enjoy.
Mystery Reads: Our scouts will be hand-picking and wrapping "Mystery Books" for those who want a surprise adventure!
Sustainable Sharing: Keeping books in local hands rather than in landfills.

📥 Help us stock the shelves
If you’re having a World Book Day clear-out, please save your good condition books for us and hand them into any leader. We are looking for great reads for all ages—from toddlers, teenagers and adults.

🗣️ We need your input!
We want this bookcase to be for everyone, so we’re doing some community research. To help our Explorers stock the shelves with things you’ll actually love:
Who is your favorite author?
What books or genres would you love to see on our shelves? (e.g., Thrillers, Sci-Fi, Picture Books, Travel Guides) what book is special to you?

Mine would be "Z for Zachariah" by Robert C. O'Brien. It’s a gripping survival story about a girl living alone after a global catastrophe who has to use her wits to survive. Little did i know reading it as a wee girl that i would become a Scout Leader !! It’s the ultimate "Scout" book—all about resilience and resourcefulness!

🎄 Day 24: The Grand Finale! ⚜️
It’s the very last day of our 7th Whitburn Scout Advent Calendar, and we’re finishing with the most important symbol of all: our Fleur-de-lis badge.
Did you know? The three 'petals' of our badge represent our three promises: Duty to God/Values, Duty to others, and Duty to self.
This badge stands for everything we’ve achieved together this year—and what a year it has been! We’ve reached some amazing milestones:
🏆 Community Pride: Huge congratulations again to our Group Lead for being named Citizen of the Year!
📈 Growing Strong: We’ve welcomed new section leaders and plenty of new children into our Scouting family.
🤝 Community Spirit: From hosting our popular breakfast mornings to standing proud in the Remembrance and Gala parades to name a few.
🧠 Brain Power: Proudly winning the Uniformed Organisation Senior Quiz!
⛺ Adventure: Successfully running several camps and introducing brand-new areas to our Scout post.
We’ve had so many adventures this year, and none of it would be possible without the incredible support of our parents, volunteers, and the Whitburn community.
Thank you for being part of our journey. Here’s to even bigger adventures in the year to come! 🥂✨
Merry Christmas from everyone at the 7th Whitburn!

How do snowmen shop online?

They use the winter-net!

No badge news today! ⚜️ Instead, we wanted to take a moment to focus on saying a huge THANK YOU to everyone who supported this year’s Scout Post.
As you can see from our poster, it was a record-breaking year! We beat last year's totals in both cards delivered and funds raised! 📈 This money goes right back into supporting our Scouts' activities and equipment.
We delivered 3,642 cards and raised an incredible £1,305 for our group funds. This is a fantastic jump from last year, and we couldn't have done it without the local shops, every single person who used the service and of course our amazing volunteers 👏
Your support helps us keep providing great adventures for our Scouts.
THANK YOU 😊 💓🏆🎊
