Not all neck wrinkles are the same. And here’s why…

When it comes to ageing in the neck, there are different changes that can occur, and understanding what’s causing them is key.

What many people simply refer to as “neck wrinkles” can actually be caused by several different factors.

✨ Horizontal neck lines (necklace lines)
These can develop due to genetics, natural skin creasing and repeated neck movements, particularly looking down at phones and devices, commonly known as “tech neck”.

✨ Skin laxity
As we age, our natural production of collagen and elastin declines, along with the structural support within the skin. This can result in skin becoming looser and losing its firmness.

✨ Platysmal bands
These are the vertical bands that can become more visible as we age. They occur as the platysma muscle becomes more prominent, contributing to changes in the appearance and definition of the neck.

Although these concerns can appear together, they don’t necessarily have the same underlying cause.
