🌿 Rosemary is grown all over the world and is one of the most popular herbs used today. Like lavender, rosemary is kind of a ‘cure all’ essential oil that can be used to great effect to help with a very wide range of issues and complaints.

🌿 It is hugely beneficial in skincare especially for those with oily or acne-prone skin, and it has a strong but cleansing action on our circulatory, nervous, digestive, reproductive and immune systems. It is a very stimulating oil that revives and refreshes the mind, instill a sense of clarity, presence and sense of self awareness.

🌿 We refer to it as ‘the activator’ because it is such a strong, vibrant, stimulating, and awakening oil that it almost activates anything it comes into contact with, whether by smell or application on the skin.

🌿 It is a must-have in any essential oil box because its aroma offers very powerful stimulating qualities that encourage action, problem-solving and positive potential.

🌿 Rosemary is not only useful for the skin, hair and nails, but also for our respiratory, circulatory and digestive systems as well as for mind and emotions. So, whilst we may want to use it in our products, primarily for its therapeutic benefits for the skin, we’re also accessing the other benefits of rosemary by using them in our products. Using cosmetic products as a way of accessing the aromatherapeutic benefits of our essential oils is a wonderful thing to do and why so many of us are drawn to make them in the first place.

🌿 Some of the well known therapeutic properties of rosemary essential oil are antioxidant, antiseptic, astringent, cicatrisant, cytophylactic, fungicidal, restorative, tonic, vulnerary. Just something to note on this. Rosemary does have strong antioxidant qualities, but it is not enough for it to be effective as an “antioxidant”. For this you need to look at Vitamin E.

🌿 There are a few contraindications that need to be taken seriously. Rosemary should be avoided in pregnancy as well as those who suffer with epilepsy or high blood pressure.

💥ROSACEA TIPS

Rosacea is a very upsetting condition that is very common, Sometimes people are only made aware of it - because they developed it!
Then, the signs become very familiar; you begin to notice others:
●the telltale red, sometimes swollen nose
●the persistent redness in the central part of the face
●the small blood vessels that become visible
●the swollen red bumps that develop into really sore blemishes
●Many develop pimples and rashes that resemble acne and sometimes fill up with pus
●Other symptoms can include the potentially serious eye condition Blepharitis where the eyelids become red and swollen
●●Men can be prone to thickening skin around the nose area: Rhinophyma

So what can you do?
🔵 First port of call GP?
🔹 The GP will start off prescribing topical creams, antibiotics
🔷For some they take the next step a visit to a Dermatologist who prescribed the only thing in their arsenal: rather harsh antibiotics that women who are of childbearing age are told not to plan a pregnancy whilst taking!
🖐 Do they work?sometimes, but be aware
a) They might not work for you
b) The practitioner might not be fully qualified or even researched the subject that they are advising on!

Suggestions
🟢 have a food intollerance blood test - this is very individual to the person - BUT - some are very common and will aggravate the symptoms of Rosacea! I will note these down 👍
The main food culprits for many sufferers include:

🍞 Gluten - has been heavily linked to Rosacea. So, it is best to avoid!
🍳 🍟 Food that has been fried, heavily processed and refined are best avoided! The old adage: what you put in ➡️ you get out is a mantra I would constantly think about whenever I refer to skin health! 🌟 🔺Apart from having a poor nutritional value these foods are usually high in fat, refined sugar and carbs:
🔥 sugar acts as a food for bacteria; an overgrowth of this bacteria has been linked to digestive problems 👆 acne is a bacterial and anti-inflammatory condition and there is some research to suggest that a healthy gut and healthy regular food transit affects the skin health! When the inside is unbalanced- your whole system is out of kilter! There is research being conducted that echoes this 👌

🚨 So basically - in a nutshell - avoid all processed foods 👌
🌱 I would recommend a diet with fruit, berries and vegetables in abundance - did you know there are over 25000 phytonutrients in plants! They are a powerhouse of vital goodness and contain so many health giving properties 👌
💧 It is so important to drink plenty of water and keep hydrated! Your body uses water in all its cells, organs and tissues! Water aids detoxification, boosts elimination and encourages skin health

There are other well-known foods that cause problems for people with Rosacea;

Most importantly

🍷 LIMIT ALCOHOL whilst drinking itself may not be a cause of the condition - research has shown that drinking alcohol will increase the production of inflammatory Cytokines which can lead to the widening of blood vessels!
Most of my clients who suffered from this were regular drinkers

🥤 It’s best to avoid soft drinks as they contain Bromide which is known to affect Rosacea.

⭐️ I cant emphasise enough how important a role diet plays when trying to combat the symptoms of Rosacea - you are what you eat ✔️ you can make a huge difference to the skin you’re in when you focus on what you put in or on your body 🌟

💫 Helpful Tips 💫
🚨 If you have any other underlying medical conditions & on medication - please discuss all use of natural remedies with your GP
🌟 I have found Dandelion and Nettle tea very helpful in clearing skin and reducing inflammation!
💐 Dandelion - do not use if you’re on diuretics, medication for heart or blood pressure, blood thinners, also some antibiotics- so best avoided
💐 Nettle - contraindications- pretty much as above - also: don’t use if you’re on medication for Diabetes or taking non steroidal anti-inflammatory meds!

🧠 Stress and Anxiety play a role in this inflammatory condition too 😔 I know it’s hard not to let this affect you in this way! But there are ways to cope and to help bring down levels of anxiety and stress!

This information has only just scratched the surface of this condition that affects and distresses many of my clients in the past.

Also an inflamed nose is a sign that there is an imbalance in the gut - a probiotic supplement together with a wholefood diet will help!
