Along with my partner in everything 🌍 We’ve been working away creating something pretty special. With her phenomenal PT background and nutrition knowledge and my love of cooking we created a recipe book and meal plans to go alongside a meal prep business.

It’s been ticking along nicely but all of a sudden the business has levelled all the way UP!

Chopping hair one day, chopping veg the next. This hairdresser is a busy girl ✌🏽 ✂️ 🥦🥕🥒

For all my perimenopause girls…. Buckle up!

These are pictures of my head. Yep. My normally big thick old bush of grey hair.

Last September, fully aware I was in the thick of perimenopause with various random symptoms, I started to notice my hair was, to be honest, being a massive pain in the tooshie. I couldn’t style it, I was finding it everywhere and something just felt different. I was losing it. In big amounts. And to my utter despair I looked like I was turning into a middle aged man with a bald patch. You could see right through to my scalp, my crown area had a handful of hairs and I was starting to have to comb it over to cover the patch.

So after a small tantrum I did my research. Hours of it. As basically as I can explain, this is what I discovered.

When your hormones are having a party
and estrogen (which protects hair follicles) declines, the small amounts of testosterone covert to DHT, leading to higher rates of female pattern hair loss. Your hair follicles shrink, your hair strands go into the sleep phase for longer and your body thinks ah ok, we aren’t using these anymore, we’ll stop sending blood to this area and concentrate on other things. Your hair falls out and because of the follicle shrinkage it doesn’t then regrow.

Acting fast is key. You need to remind your body that you do in fact need blood to be sent to those follicles and remind it you are still wanting to grow hair!

Here’s what I did…. Daily scalp massage with Planter 39 tonic. Stimulate your scalp and get the blood flowing. I changed my shampoo to planter 39 and the evening before hair wash day I massaged and slept in a combination of rosemary and pumpkin seed oil on my scalp.

Now here comes the list of supplements…

Pumpkin seed oil and saw palmetto supplements- blocks the DHT hormone.

Biotin- promotes the production of keratin, a protein necessary for hair strength and structure.

Health and her perimenopause supplements- aids in all side effects of perimenopause

Sage leaf- hormone balancing

Mushroom gummies- they are just magic!

Super green powder- I drink Welle everyday.

We are now 5 months down the line. My hair has completely recovered and I’ve got my thick grey locks back. It actually only took around 6 weeks for me to start feeling the stubble of new hair growth but it’s taken this long for the length to come back

Hoping this helps anyone out there who maybe struggling with the same problem.

She’s one!!! Salon 2.0! Happy birthday to my number 2, the one that’s made me a very busy girl, brought endless new faces into my life and so much fun and happiness.

This time last year I was wondering if I’d gone mad, opening a second salon at the busiest time of year and running round like a maniac! One year on and everything is perfect, new faces still coming through every single week, both salons bursting with fun and beautiful hair, above all a very happy and content hairdresser.

Thank you to everyone single client that supports and encourages me, stays loyal and brings me so much entertainment every single day. Salon 2.0 is my dream.
