We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our dear customer and friend, Eddie Haughey.

Eddie was a genuinely brilliant man. He was one of three generations of his family regularly coming into Cambridge Barbershop over the years.

I remember welcoming him in as Mr Haughey and he quickly gave me 'a look'......"It's Eddie" he insisted. Eddie it was from then

He loved talking about old times, and we tried our best to humour him with our knowledge of any subject he started with....and I reckon we did fairly well.

As anyone who knew Eddie, he wasn't the fastest on his feet, so naturally after every haircut, I'd walk him across the road to his car. Every time he said to me, "Get back in there, you've work to do". Not a chance, it got me out for a few minutes.....even longer as sometimes I'd stop the traffic to get him across. One time, we noticed an irate driver who was annoyed at this....so Eddie slowed down .... Old boys know the old tricks. 😂

Our love, thoughts and prayers to his wife Margaret, and family.

HAUGHEY, Eddie (11 Lough Moss Park, Carryduff) died peacefully on Saturday 29th August 2026 at The Mater Hospital, Belfast surrounded by his loving family.

Dearly beloved husband of Margaret and loving father of John, Ian and Gareth. Cherished grandfather of Matthew, Annie, Ella, Paul, Katie-Jane and Gabriella. Much loved father in law of Kirsty and Tandy Jane.

Eddie is reposing at his residence with family in attendance from 2pm - 8pm on Monday 31st August 2026. Eddie will leave his residence on Tuesday 1st September 2026 at 11.30 am for 12 noon Requiem Mass in the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Drumbo with interment following in the adjoining cemetery.

Deeply regretted by his sorrowing wife, children, grandchildren, daughters in law and large circle of family and friends.

TO ALL PARENTS WITH SCHOOL CHILDREN

Now that the schools are back in full swing, we just want to tell all our followers about our 'SAFE SPACE'.

Cambridge Barbershop will offer a SAFE SPACE for any kids who are waiting to be picked up by parents/guardians.
If they miss the bus, or feel in any way nervous or vulnerable, they are free to wait Inside....the door is always open for a pick up or meeting point

And the way kids are always on the phone, thus creating a dead battery, staff will have phones on hand should your child need to call you.
Phone chargers are also here, ready and free to use.

We'll keep them safe, or put them to work while they're waiting. They might even learn a thing or two whilst waiting.

Rest assured though, we have their backs.

30 Years of excellent service on The Lisburn Road.

It is with sadness we learn the passing of one of our longest standing customers, Sir Desmond Rea.

To say he was quite a character is an understatement.
Knowing the fact he hadn't much hair to work with, he often haggled over the price but we had to add on a 'search fee' so we could get an extra shilling or two out of him.

Our deepest sympathy to his family
May he rest in peace 🙏
