Rough, scaly patches could be more than just dry skin 🔍

Today is Global Actinic Keratosis Day - a common skin condition caused by long-term sun exposure. AK often appears as rough, crusty, or scaly patches on areas regularly exposed to the sun, such as the face, scalp, ears, and hands. While not all cases become cancerous, some can develop into skin cancer if left untreated.

Protecting your skin with daily SPF, avoiding excessive UV exposure, and monitoring new or changing patches are important steps in prevention. Early assessment can make a significant difference.

We covered how much sunscreen should actually be applied for effective protection and where to go if you’re concerned about a mole or skin change. Early awareness and regular skin checks can play an important role in spotting changes sooner.
