Important clarification

We are aware of comments circulating online regarding a video of alleged animal abuse, in which an individual has been incorrectly identified as a member of our staff.

We can confirm that the individual shown in the video is not the member of staff being referred to and that the allegation involving our employee is completely false. At the time of the incident shown in the video, the employee concerned was working at Allington House.

We take the welfare of animals and the wellbeing and reputation of our staff extremely seriously. We would therefore ask that people do not share or repeat allegations identifying our employee in connection with this video.

We understand that people who see upsetting footage may understandably want to raise concerns, but it is important that individuals are not identified on the basis of resemblance or assumption.

We are aware of the comments being made and are taking appropriate steps to address the situation.

Thank you to everyone who has contacted us with genuine concern and to those who have allowed us the opportunity to clarify the situation.

✈️Today was our monthly Armchair Travels adventure, and we jetted off to Italy!🍕🫒🇮🇹

We enjoyed a lively session of Italian picture bingo, with some Italian favourites to taste along the way, including cappuccino, pesto, ciabatta, mozzarella and pizza 💚🤍❤️

The session prompted lots of lovely memories of holidays and trips to Italy, which our residents were kind enough to share with us.

After our group session, our travelling trolley set off around the home to visit residents who preferred to stay in their rooms or simply wanted to enjoy the experience at their own pace. We listened to a selection of Italian favourites, including That’s Amore and Quando, Quando, Quando, and there was also an Italian quiz and wordsearch available for anyone who fancied a little extra to do in their own time.

Family & friends, please save the date! It might only be September, but I’m afraid I’m about to say the C word… CHRISTMAS! 🤭 We’re planning a festive fundraiser here at Allington House, with plenty of Christmas fun, treats, games and much more. We’re also hoping to have some very special guests joining us… 🤶🎅🫏 More details to follow, but for now - please save the date!

We’ve had a lovely day at Allington House.

We started the morning with some gentle exercises with Activities Coordinators Victoria and David, before Forest Friends Childcare Billingham Nursery came to visit. The residents enjoyed getting involved with the colourful chiffon squares and ribbons, followed by a noisy session with the musical instruments!

Later this afternoon, some of us headed to our local, The Merlin Billingham , for lunch. It was a lovely social afternoon, with good food, conversation and company.

We then rounded off the day enjoying a James Bond movie together.

Today, some of our residents enjoyed getting out and about with Cycling Without Age for a lovely spin on the tri-bike.🚲🍃

It was wonderful to feel the wind in our hair, take in the scenery and wave to passers-by along the way. Our residents really enjoyed being out in the fresh air, seeing the local area from a different view and having a good old wave to everyone we passed.

Some of our residents had a lovely morning at CAMEO Club today, putting our trivia knowledge to the test with questions spanning the 1950s, 60s, 70s and 80s. One question about the moon landing sparked a fascinating conversation about the different theories and why some people believe it may have been a conspiracy. It was wonderful to hear everyone’s thoughts and opinions, with plenty of interesting views shared around the table.🌜👩‍🚀

A warm thank you to all our friends at CAMEO for always making us feel so welcome. We always look forward to our Wednesday mornings together.🥰

What a wonderful weekend we’ve had at the Billingham Show! 🎡🎪🍭

Some of our residents had an amazing time soaking up the atmosphere and enjoying everything the show had to offer. From Tombola and fairground games to candy floss and sugar dummies.

We enjoyed meeting the therapy donkeys, Teddy and Maurice, browsing the horticulture section and exploring the many stalls. We also spotted Dottie, a very cute little dog dressed as a bumble bee! And to top it all off, we even had the pleasure of meeting the Town Crier.

So many smiles and lovely memories made. What a fantastic weekend! 🥰

Yesterday morning we had a lovely visit from the children of Forest Friends Childcare Billingham, residents enjoyed watching the children play, joining in with songs and even having a go at some very entertaining animal impressions 🥰🐄

It was wonderful to see the two generations enjoying each other's company.

Today we enjoyed some purposeful engagement activities, getting stuck into a few jobs around the home. Residents helped with making beds, taking out the laundry, washing the pots and restocking our Personal Care Pantry - all those little jobs that help make our home feel like home and give everyone the opportunity to play an active part.

This afternoon things got a little more competitive with a lively game of dominoes. There were some very determined players around the table, and a few questionable decisions about whose turn it actually was!

Next time, our Activities team is coming prepared with a striped shirt and a whistle… it looks like we may need a referee! 🤣

Our residents love attending C.A.M.E.O Club on wednesday mornings. They enjoy reminiscing, playing games, having a cuppa and chatting with members of the local community.

It is a lovely way to meet new people and make friends. Families and friends are always welcome to join us, especially if you would like a little extra support and reassurance while enjoying an outing with your loved one. Our Activities team will be there to support you, helping you and your loved one build confidence in enjoying the community together, just a short distance from home.

Wednesdays at 10:30am, North Methodist Church Hall, just next door.
