August was a busy one 🤍

We finally launched the new soap boxes after what felt like forever, I spent a LOT of time making and restocking products, did a few markets and somehow also started designing a whole new website 😅

It was also mine and my son’s birthday month, so there was lots of family time and celebrating in between everything else.

Definitely one of those months where I’m not quite sure how we fit it all in, but a really lovely one 🫶🏽

I was thinking about this earlier and it’s actually a bit mad that the soap collection started with one tiny bar I made for myself in 2020.

I’d never even used handmade soap before. I just wanted to try making one, and then I loved how it felt so much that I started reading more, testing different things and trying to understand what made a bar feel really good to use.

I made a few batches, then stopped for a while.

But when I brought Ametrine back in 2023, I already knew soap had to be part of it. I loved the fact that something as ordinary as having a shower could feel a bit nicer just because of the scent, the lather and the feel of the bar. And I liked that it was one less plastic bottle in the bathroom too.

Then people started buying them at markets, coming back for the same ones, telling me which scents they loved, and suddenly this little thing I’d originally made for myself had become one of the biggest parts of the brand.

So tomorrow feels quite special.

The soaps aren’t changing, but they’re finally getting the boxes I’ve wanted them to have for a long time.

If you’re new here, we make six different handmade soap bars and they’re all a little different.

Some are softer and creamier, some are more exfoliating, and each one has its own essential oil blend and extra ingredients that give it a different feel.

So I thought I’d make choosing one a bit easier.

If you like soft and calming, bright and uplifting, warm and woody or fresh and zingy, there’s probably one here you’ll be drawn to.

Which one would you pick?

I’ve made a lot of soap over the years, and one thing I’ve learnt is that a bar can look lovely and still not be that nice to actually use.

For me, it needs to lather really well, feel good in your hands, hold up properly between washes and leave your skin feeling comfortable afterwards.

And because I’m such a scent person, that matters just as much too. I want each bar to have its own feel and to be something you genuinely enjoy reaching for, whether that’s first thing in the morning or at the end of the day.

There are so many little things that go into making a bar feel good to use, and they’re the bits I probably notice most now whenever I try a new soap.

They’re also the things I pay attention to every time I make a batch of ours 🤍
