It’s such an honour for my brand to receive recognition, particularly when I’m in the running for an award and in my humble opinion a nomination is just as good as a win!

However, upon reflection I realised something’s…

1. I’ve been in my business premises less than 6 months
2. The operation of my business depends on me and only me. I don’t have a team
3. I’m the only woman in the category

Lemme just touch on number 3… 14 years ago when I started, men gave me hell at the fact that I decided to become a barber and that continued for years!!

Thankfully the landscape of Barbering has changed a lot but I’m not going to overlook the fact of how much hardwork I’ve done and STILL do to influence changes to the face of industry and the mindset of individuals.

As a Black Woman, overstepping the mark of our ‘cultural norms’ has been challenging but we are here and we aren’t going anywhere no time soon!

Me and my friend would make this running joke about wanting to “make it to the credits” and for us it was about actually making it through the highs and lows of what life brings and still being relevant!

Now I can say for the 1st time that I’VE ACTUALLY MADE IT TO THE CREDITS! 😂😂😂😂

This was my mom’s dream to be apart of the TV Film industry and she didn’t get the opportunity to complete it but I took up the Mantel piece and here is the result.

Thanks to for approaching me with the opportunity and for trusting me with your hair for a few months. What an experience!
