Considerations when undertaking an advanced IPL facial for redness rosacea and vascularity in the skin
Covering up any pigment!! As the laser light loves pigmentation and can result in unwanted results
* It targets melanin. IPL energy is absorbed by melanin (the pigment that gives hair and skin their color).
* Eyebrow hairs can become lighter. If the brows are not properly shielded, IPL can damage the pigment-producing cells in the hair follicles, causing eyebrow hairs to lighten, turn reddish/blonde, or stop growing temporarily or permanently.
* Skin pigmentation can change. IPL can help reduce excess pigmentation (such as sunspots) in the skin around the brows by breaking up excess melanin. However, if used incorrectly, it can also cause temporary darkening or lightening of the skin (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation), particularly in darker skin tones.
* Tattooed or microbladed brows can fade. IPL may alter or fade cosmetic tattoo pigment, so these areas are usually avoided during treatment.
