The Inconvenient Master

She used to be different.
Always working.
Mornings – taking clients. Evenings – same.
Weekends? Of course, she worked then too.

“Can you only do it then?”
“Okay, I’ll adjust,” she’d say.

And so the days passed. Weeks. Years.
Everyone managed. Except her.

Her life slipped by between polished nails and dust in the air.
Bills – paid.
Clients – satisfied.
Calendar – overbooked.

It all seemed fine.
Until one day… she simply couldn’t take another client.

That weekend was special to her – her birthday.
A day when she didn’t want to smile for others,
but finally choose herself.

– “What do you mean you can’t take me that weekend? So what if it’s your birthday – you could come in the morning, right?”
Hearing those words from a client, she was stunned.

– “Sorry, I won’t be available that day,” she quietly replied.
– “Well, you know I can’t come at another time, and I can’t wait! I’ll go elsewhere then!”

or reading a book with a cat on her lap.
The one who dared to say “no,” so she could say “yes” to herself.

Now, she works – but differently.
Not to fit into everyone else’s lives.
But to finally fit into her own.

Because when you're always accommodating,
one day you realize –
life passes you by while you’re being convenient for everyone else.

And if one day she’s no longer working –
maybe, finally, she’s living.

And you know what?
People often don’t appreciate that you were always there.
At the first sign of inconvenience – they run.
Because when you're helpful, you're useful.
But when you can't be, you're suddenly unnecessary.

So choose yourself.
