LET’S TALK MESH INTEGRATION 🤍

First of all, I want to make something really clear…

I am PRO mesh - I love mesh integration, and for the right person, it can genuinely be a LIFESAVER. It can give someone back confidence, fullness and the feeling of having their hair back when they’ve experienced significant hair loss or extreme thinning.

But lately, I’ve been fixing more and more poor mesh integration installations, and it’s made me really think about how glamorised mesh has become on social media.

We’re seeing beautiful before & afters, transformations and seemingly seamless results all over social media. But please remember — you can’t always believe everything you see online.

A photo only shows you what’s on the outside. You can’t see what’s happening underneath the “hood” in that after photo. You can’t see the tension, the placement, the condition of the natural hair underneath, how the scalp is coping, or whether the system is actually comfortable and sustainable for the client.

And sometimes, that’s where the real problems are hiding.

We don’t always see the consultation, the assessment of the scalp and natural hair, the maintenance involved, the cost, the adjustment period or the potential problems when it isn’t suitable or correctly fitted.

And one thing that really concerns me is when mesh is being presented as the first and only option, sometimes without a proper face-to-face, in-person consultation.

Every head of hair is different.

If you still have a good amount of natural hair, there may be other options that could give you the fullness and blend you’re looking for without jumping straight into a mesh system.

That could be carefully placed wefts, keratin bonds, tapes, nano methods, toppers or a combination of techniques — depending entirely on your hair and what you’re trying to achieve.

Mesh isn’t bad. It isn’t something I’m against. Quite the opposite. But it needs to be recommended for the right person, for the right reasons, and fitted by someone who understands the technique properly.
