Collagen is one of the most abundant types of protein within the body, as well as other important functions it is an essential part of the skin, found in the dermal layer amongst elastin and connective tissues.
From the age of 25 our collagen levels decrease by around 1% every year. As collagen starts to decline the structure within the skin starts to weaken and become more fragile.
This leads to:
1. a loss of volume and firmness within the skin, making fine lines and wrinkles more likely.
2. broken capillaries which can cause reduced circulation decreasing radiance and glow
3. A reduction in hyaluronic acid leading to dehydrated skin
