After the large volume of response to one of recent posts regarding the car parking charges for Blackwood Town, we have decided to try and do something about it. Many people may not be aware that Caerphilly County Borough have already passed a proposed INCREASE on the car parking fees that's due to come in next year.

We attended a Bi Annual Stakeholder meeting for Blackwood Town Last Week, where we where told that a consultation had taken place in Blackwood Library regarding the proposed increase. Please bare in mind that the footfall of the library is likely very low and it was not advertised well enough for people to actually appose it.

So we have created a petition to stop the planned increases and in addition requesting that they make the first hour free. I know that most belive it should be entirely free parking, but thats not a battle we are likely to win. We need to pick our fights.

Change can only happen when enough people make noise. Help support your local Town and its residents. The petition is available to sign in our Cafe, we have also asked other businesses up and down the high street to take a petition sheet so you can find one to sign in most of the high street.

I have spoken to the Mayor Cllr George Etheridge and County Councillor Kevin Etheridge and they fully support the cause.
