I’ve gone backwards and forwards about posting this, because what I’m about to share is something I’ve never really spoken about on here before.

Around this time every year, Facebook shows me a memory from a night out with friends. It’s a happy photo, but it was taken just two weeks before my mum, Margaret, died.

That memory always seems to mark the beginning of a difficult few weeks for me. I’m not there yet, but I know that as her anniversary gets closer, I tend to become more reflective and a little out of sorts.

I’ve never really shared this before, but my mum is the reason The Lancashire Candle Company exists.

Losing her changed my life completely, and the business came from that period. It gave me something to focus on when I needed it most, and over time it grew into something I could never have imagined.

That doesn’t mean it’s always easy. There are still times when I feel overwhelmed, exhausted, and want to drop it all.

And then something like this comes along.

Seeing those words made me stop and think about how much has happened since Mum died, and how many things I wish I could tell her about.

The business. The people I’ve met. The opportunities I’ve had. The things I’ve somehow managed to do.

And now this.

This has been a difficult post to write, and an even harder one to press “post” on. But it felt like the right time to share this part of my story.

I think she’d be proud.

And I’m trying to let myself be proud too. 💚

What a fabulous day we had at The Last Drop Village Hotel & Spa, Bolton Artisan Market!

It was so nice to share a space with the lovely Kate from A Year of Dates as well, it’s been too long!

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by, had a chat or bought something. Your support is very much appreciated!

If you saw the pots I shared this morning… this is how it looks now it’s varnished. 👀💙

The varnish has really deepened the blue and completely changed the finish. It’s amazing how different the colour can look once that final coat goes on.

I said this morning I might change my mind once I’d varnished them… and I think I have. 😂

This week has been absolutely relentless. My job has taken all of my time, so I’ve had very little left for The Lancashire Candle Company — and almost no time to actually be creative.

I did manage to do a little something creative and make these, though, mainly to stop my brain from melting 😂

This shade is one I’m considering for the Christmas collection 👀🎄 At the moment I’m thinking I’d like it a little deeper and richer, although once they’ve been sealed I may completely change my mind.

That’s the thing with testing colours — the finished result can look so different.

For now, though, I’m just very glad it’s Friday.

Hello October 🍂

I don’t know about you, but I’m very ready for cosy evenings, autumn walks, darker nights and all the little things that make this time of year feel special.

September was such a busy month behind the scenes here at The Lancashire Candle Company, and I’m heading into October feeling really grateful for every order, message, share and bit of support.

There’s lots happening this month too, and I’m looking forward to sharing more of it with you as October unfolds 🤎

What do you love most about October — the cosy nights, the colours, the cooler weather… or are you already thinking about Christmas? 🍁

September has been a bit of a whirlwind 🍂🤎

There has been so much going on behind the scenes this month, and when I actually stopped to look back at it all, I realised just how much has happened.

I launched the Autumn Edit, introduced five new seasonal fragrances and new vessel colours, expanded the refillable collection, launched the Wax Melt Discovery Boxes, and added new candle care cards too.

There has also been plenty happening that you don’t always see — working on wholesale opportunities, pouring, packing, testing, planning, tweaking the website and generally trying to keep all the plates spinning.

Some days running a small business feels exciting, some days it feels exhausting, and some days it feels like a bit of both. But every order, message, comment, share and bit of support really does mean a lot.

So thank you for being here and supporting The Lancashire Candle Company through another month. 🤎

Here’s to October… and probably even more autumn chaos 🍁😂
