Where a horse shows tension and resistance is not always the place where the pain and discomfort originates from as this horse shows
This horse had become very reluctant to have his poll and ears touched on his near side , after checking for the obvious knock cut or heat In The area the culprit was found In His mouth , he had caught his lateral incisor on the off side and pulled back , fortunately it is a baby tooth and the vet is on route to remove it
This was caused by a hanging salt lick on a rope , this young horse tried to bite the lick getting the rope stuck round his tooth, and pulled back taking his gum and tooth with it ,
So please keep an eye on your horses with any toy or lick that uses a rope to attach it

Sometimes just showing them that they can carry themselves better is all that is needed.
Here I have applied some sensory wraps so he can feel the connection between his hind end and his front end

This turned up today, already tried it on myself , not sure if it will make it out to the horses, it’s lovely and relaxing on tired muscles

Horses are very good at hiding things from us, treating them is like a game of hide and seek , sometimes we need to take a step back and look at the horse as a whole because where we see a problem may not be where the problem is
I was asked to look at Johnathan because he had stumbled a couple of times and appeared stiff in his shoulder

These are ideal to feed to your horses especially over the winter months
They have high levels of vitamin c and iron, they help boost the horses immunity and keep joints supple and flexible, they are very useful to help horses recovering from injury or Illness ,
I pick mine , slice , dry in the oven or dehydrator and pack in an air tight container ready to use
Why not use the last of the summer sun shine and get out picking , your horses will appreciate it 😊

Been out to treat this lovely boy tonight, he has an old injury which he compensates for,
it is so rewarding to see a release of tension and bit more balance to his body after treatment

I’ve just welcomed this little cob onto the yard as a companion for my mare , he has been intermittently lame on his off hind, x rays and nerve blocks have come up clear , and he is at present sound and has been sound for the past month, let’s see what we can find, keep watching for updates on his progress

It’s always good to keep learning, getting a deeper understanding of how each muscle affect another and how certain exercises can strengthen and help prevent injury
