BAO is all about uncomplicated happiness.
The aim has always been to make your skin happy. Not change it. Not fix it. Not morph you into someone you don’t recognise. Just happy skin.
And the more time I spend building BAO, the more I realise happiness comes in lots of different forms.
Happy skin.
A happy gut.
Movement that makes you feel alive.
Being part of a team.
Laughing with people you’ve only just met.
And spending a summer evening on the beach.
That’s why BooChaCha | Kombucha Kits and I are getting a few of people together for a game of rounders on Shore Road next Wednesday. There’ll be plenty of laughter, plenty of kombucha, almost certainly some skincare chat, and absolutely no requirement to be any good at rounders.

When Beth handed over the reins for BAO I don’t think she ever mentioned that one day I’d be standing on the beach at 7:30am on a Sunday morning jumping up and down with cardboard signs and shouting about how great BAO is.
Yet here we are.
What Beth did tell me was the story behind BAO - A skincare brand born through necessity. Created when her own skin needed something gentler, calmer and kinder.
Somewhere along the way, Beth’s passion for BAO became my passion too.
I believe in BAO and everything it represents.
I believe in the power of natural ingredients and the beautiful impact they can have on your skin.
I believe BAO can help calm and nurture sensitive skin and bring back a healthy glow.
I believe the essential oils do more than make the products smell beautiful. I believe they can brighten your day too.
So I’ll keep turning up.
I’ll keep talking about BAO.
And I’ll keep shouting about it whenever I get the chance.

I believe sleep does more for your skin than most products ever will.
I believe drinking enough water is underrated.
I believe wanting healthy, radiant skin is wonderful.
I don’t believe wanting to look 20 when you’re 50 is.
I believe we’ve normalised routines that are far too complicated. Personally, I’d rather spend half an hour walking outside than doing a 10-step skincare routine.
I believe modern life is making us ill. Too much stress. Too much processing. Too much complexity. I don’t believe our ancestors suffered from many of the diseases we see today.
I believe beautiful natural scents can genuinely lift your mood and improve your day.
And perhaps most importantly, I believe skincare should make the very most of who you are.
Not change who you are.
Not fight who you are.
Not convince you that you’re somehow falling short.
Just support healthy, happy skin.
That’s what BAO has always been about for me.

Yesterday I learnt a new word: cosmeticorexia.
And honestly, it made me a bit sad.
The term describes an unhealthy obsession with appearance and, in some cases, skincare routines.
The BBC recently reported that children as young as 8 are following 10-step skincare routines. When I read that, I immediately thought how overwhelming that must feel. At 8 years old, children should be climbing trees, building dens and getting muddy knees — not worrying about whether they’re applying enough serums.
This is one of the reasons I love BAO.
BAO was never created to help people chase perfection. It was created to help people feel comfortable in their skin.
My belief is simple: healthy skin isn’t flawless skin. Most people don’t need more products. They need kinder products, realistic expectations and a routine they’ll actually stick to.
A routine should fit around your life.
Not become your life.
Do you think skincare has become too complicated?
