Many times a patient has come to clinic with a specific idea in mind of what they ‘need’ and the results they are hoping for would be better achieved by a different treatment or product- or a combination of both.

At the end of the consultation, I will send you away with all the information and any relevant leaflets which you will have time to go and process all that we discussed.

We have all seen the adverts on TV where a beautiful actress claims to have aged backwards all thanks to a cream that she bought on the high street for less than £10…

You go down to the shops excited to restock your shelves and come back laden with products that they claim will make you look 10 years younger in a month ⏪ but it doesn’t work 😫

The truth? Even if these people have used these products, they have done it alongside a much bigger treatment and skincare plan…

High street products are legally restricted. They are designed to sit safely on the very top layer of your skin (the epidermis). They feel nice, but they cannot structural alter or lift the skin ⤴️

Something I get asked a lot is “How much filler will you use?” and often this comes from the public perception of filler which seems to be that it is used in large quantities, solely to make things bigger.

It is also quite often advertised on Social Media as being priced by the ml, rather than by the purpose. For example 1ml of filler £X, 2ml of filler £Y.

But what is 1ml of filler, and what sort of quantities are expected? ⤵️

Let me start by saying, every patient and every face is different.

As an Aesthetic Nurse, one size doesn’t fit all in my clinic 👩🏼‍⚕️

That being said there are quantities that are more usual and placement is creating the bespoke and intended results.

As a rough guideline, I often use 0.5ml of filler in lips or 0.5ml in each cheek making up your full 1ml - roughly the size of a blueberry 🫐

As a side note, you’re never just paying for the ml of filler; you’re paying for qualifications, experience, high quality products, the clinical setting, gloves, insurance etc ☺️
