Good prep makes SUCH a difference. Taking the time to work around the cuticle area, perfect the shape and properly prepare the nail plate gives us the best foundation for our product application and, of course, helps towards that all-important retention.

And honestly… is anyone else slightly obsessed with watching nail prep? Or is that just me 👀

This week I was back at Aston & Fincher Birmingham teaching our Ultimate Beginners Course and I had such a mix of reasons for people being in the room.

Some were looking at nails as a completely new career, some wanted a creative outlet (that could also earn them some extra income 💸), and others were already in the industry but wanted a bit of a refresh and to build their confidence with newer services.

And that’s what I love about training, theres so many reasons why someone wants to become a nail tech.

Even if you’ve been sitting at my nail desk for years! A consultation doesn’t have to be a big formal chat every appointment, but I’ll always check in before we start.

How have your nails been? Any lifting? Any breaks? Are we happy with the length? Keeping the same shape? Going shorter? And most importantly… what are we actually doing today? 👀

It also gives you the chance to tell me if something hasn’t felt quite right. I want my clients to feel comfortable telling me these things because it means I can understand what’s happened and adapt your treatment where and if it’s needed.

Then we can get onto the most important stuff… choosing a colour 💅🏼
