The US Womenâs Soccer Team won the 2019 World Cup and part of their secret wasnât just skill or strategy, but tracking menstrual cycles and syncing it with their performance.
Coach Dawn Scott transformed an overlooked factor into a competitive advantage. By studying the four phases of the menstrual cycle; menstrual, follicular, ovulation, and luteal, she tailored training, recovery, and nutrition for each player:
- Training intensity matched energy levels during each phase
- Recovery like ice baths and massages were timed around high-injury-risk periods
- Nutrition during PMS reduced cramps and discomfort
The results were clear:
* 20â30% drop in minor injuries
* Better sleep
* Consistent sprint performance
While not the first team to experiment with cycle-based training, the USWNT mainstreamed the practice, inspiring womenâs sports worldwide.

Around 1 in 10 women live with Polycystic O***y Syndrome (PCOS)- a condition that affects hormones, metabolism, mood, and fertility.
Yet, many go undiagnosed for years, told itâs âjust stressâ or âpart of being a woman.â
Because symptoms show up gradually - irregular cycles, acne, fatigue, weight changes - itâs frequently dismissed as âstressâ or âjust hormonal.â
This weekâs carousel post breaks down the science of PCOS in simple language, connects it to real life, and shares how women can start to work with their bodies, not against them.
Read. Reflect. Share it with a colleague, friend, or sister. The more we talk about it, the less women have to suffer in silence.
