Keloid scarring after surgery, what is it?

A keloid scar is when the scar becomes raised, thick and grows bigger than the original incision. It’s often a result of your body producing too much collagen.

Some people are naturally more prone to this, especially depending on skin type and genetics.

The good news is, there are ways to manage it. Things like silicone gels, gentle massage, lymphatic drainage and medical treatments can all help soften and improve the scar over time.
