The end of an era✨
A bitter sweet feeling finishing university with my end of year show on Friday. I am so incredibly proud of myself for all of the hard work, late nights, unpaid jobs in industry, and all the rest that I have gone through these last three years. It has all come down to this and showcasing my final major project to my family, friends and the public.
What a fantastic day, a birthday I will never forget celebrating my greatest achievement. I am so grateful for all of the people who came to see my show and have watched me succeed after so much stress and tears this last year. I have grown so much as an artist and person throughout my degree, and I cannot wait to see where my life takes me now. A huge thank you to my tutors who have supported me and helped me grow, and believe in myself, I owe so much to you all and am eternally grateful for being by my side when times were tough, and pulled me back through❤️
Don’t ever think you can’t do something in life, sometimes taking that huge, scary and uncertain leap is the biggest blessing❤️

The making of ‘The Second Skin’ mask
This was a long and thin journey of mask fabrication and creation from life casting at the start, to final details such as painting and creating a movie-style poster which would fit into the TV and film industry.
There were highs and lows, set backs, and some exciting and fun times throughout this piece which has helped me gain so much invaluable knowledge and experience within the special effects industry.
To say it’s my first time creating something as intricate and difficult as this, I am proud of my achievements and it will now help me as an artist within other areas using transferable skills.

My final major project images:
‘The Second Skin’
This project explored the creation of mask making in the workshop to fit into my own storyline of a film, and featured on a movie style poster.
The character is a female serial killer inspired by Ed Gein and other horror films such as The Silence Of The Lambs and Bloody Face in American Horror Story. I wanted to flip the gender narrative in horror by creating a character that shows women are not just the victims in horror, but using real case studies of female killers to corroborate this.
She skins her victims to take back her power due to the men around her using her and objectifying her, she wears their faces as a mockery when killing them to make them feel scared as she was when they hurt her.
I have overcome so much during this project, and yes I understand it’s not perfect. I set out to create a mask and I have managed to do this, with little to no experience in the area so I am proud of what I have achieved and the lessons I’ve learned throughout.

BTS of my final major project shoot ‘The Second Skin’
A mask inspired by Ed Gein, I wanted to flip the gender narrative within horror and create a character based on a female serial killer who takes her revenge on the men that have wronged and objectified her.
A red latex dress is used to lure her victims in, showing how easily manipulated the men are by their desires.
The mask is worn as a mockery of her victims and to make them fearful of her as she was with them whilst staring back in their faces.
