Front Street will be closed for five days next week for half term ⚠️

The closure is likely to cause major disruption, but is said to be essential carriageway resurfacing works.

Stagecoach has reminded passengers that it will be unable to run its services to its normal stops outside the Shoulder of Mutton and Cranstons and will instead send buses along Main Street.

Front Street will be completely closed to traffic during working hours from 8am to 6pm daily on Monday 27 October to Friday 31 October, with works expected to continue for five days subject to weather and site conditions. A signed diversion route will operate throughout the closure period.

Access for emergency service vehicles, pedestrians, and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times during the essential maintenance project. The council emphasises that the official road closure is necessary to ensure workforce and public safety during the resurfacing operations.
