Been getting a bit obsessed with dried botanicals lately.

This is a little autumn experiment using our dried rose petals, herbs, flowers and seed heads. Some for fragrance, others simply because I love the colour or texture.

And yes…. I’m already thinking about autumn. And not counting down the days till school starts 😁

This is our Rose Garden pot pourri.

For those of you who, like me, aren’t terribly keen on squirty spray type artificial home fragrance things. 😁

Roses and botanicals grown here on our Welsh farm, dried and blended by us, with a beautiful natural fragrance.

Home fragrance the old-fashioned way.

A little look inside one of this week’s boxes…

This is Blackberry Path, one of our newest botanical pot pourri blends.

It’s filled with naturally dried rose petals, herbs and botanicals, all carefully grown, dried and packed by hand here on the farm. Every box is finished with a ribbon before heading off to its new home.

I still love that moment of lifting the lid and seeing all those colours together.

A little glimpse into one of this mornings job.

Every rose is picked by hand, the petals carefully removed and laid out to dry naturally.

These petals will eventually become part of our botanical home fragrance but for now they’re simply enjoying a little sunshine on the drying racks.

It’s one of those quiet, simple and satisfying summer jobs I never get bored of.

This mornings Roses and Rosemary harvest, cut and ready for drying.

Now the slow bit starts….. drying them out.

By the time they’re ready, summer will already be turning to autumn.

This week in the valley…
The fennel and the meadowsweet really started to flower.
The wild marjoram buzzed with bees.
The Roses burst with colour
And the crops turned a golden colour.

Summer seems to be changing daily.

One of my favourite jobs at this time of year.

Freshly cut lavender, a length of twine and a mug of tea.

Tea is compulsory even when it’s 30degrres outside 💜

The Meadowsweet is flowering in the woods this week.

It’s one of those plants that’s easy to walk past but hard to forget once you notice the dainty delicate flowers and the sweet fragrance.

Meadowsweet used to be scattered on cottage floors for its sweet fragrance. It still fills the woodland with that same scent every summer.

Easy to miss, but lovely to find it as it’s only around for a short time.
