Draining of a benign cysts, by electro microsurgery.

An eyelid cyst inside the eyelid is most commonly a chalazion (a meibomian gland cyst) caused by a blocked oil gland.

If the cyst is particularly large, persists for several months, or becomes severely painful or infected, a doctor may prescribe antibiotic ointments.

All treatments are performed by Jilla. For your complimentary email consultation please contact us on [email protected]

Why Cryo-Pen is Not recommended for treating Warts & Verruca!

A cryo pen (a handheld device that applies a very cold jet of nitrous oxide or another freezing method) does not remove warts permanently because it treats the wart tissue itself, not necessarily the underlying human papillomavirus (HPV) infection that caused it.

Here are the main reasons:

- HPV can remain in the surrounding skin.
Warts are caused by HPV infecting the top layers of the skin.
- Even if the visible wart is destroyed, microscopic areas of infected skin may remain, allowing the wart to regrow.

- The freezing depth may be insufficient.
Many cryo pens used in beauty clinics or sold for home use do not reach certain temperatures as medical-grade liquid-nitrogen or electro -cautery treatments.
If the entire wart and its infected base are not adequately destroyed, recurrence is more likely.

👍Electro-cautery treatment at Devonshire House Skin Clinic is one of the most effective methods for removing warts and verrucas permanently, with most patients achieving excellent outcomes after just one treatment. Contact us at [email protected]

Electro Cautery procedure used for warts; before & after result with only one session.

Large areas of warts on the hands typically result from clusters of individual warts merging together.

These are generally known as mosaic warts or, when individual bumps are flat, plane warts. They are caused by the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) entering the skin through small cuts or scratches.
Mosaic Warts: They are very common on the palms of the hands and fingers.

Key Characteristics
Contagion: They are spread through direct skin-to-skin contact or by sharing objects like towels, nail files or manicure instruments.

Prevention and Management
Don’t pick or bite: Picking at a wart or biting your nails can cause the virus to spread to other fingers.
Keep covered: Cover any cuts or scrapes on your hands to prevent the virus from entering.
Treatment: While usually clear up on their own, it can take months or years.
For new warts over-the-counter salicylic acid treatments or cryotherapy (freezing) can reduce the size, however not always successful and might require multiple treatments.

Benign (non-cancerous) moles are suitable for the procedure of electro microsurgery. This procedure is used for cosmetic purposes offering immediate, quick, and with vey little down time and minimal risks of scarring or infection.

While NHS rarely covers cosmetic removal, private clinics (e.g., Nuffield Health, Spire Health) offer these services.

Electro Micro Surgery is Not (laser, cryo, excision or shaving using surgical blades)

Other Common Removal Methods:

• Shave Excision: A surgeon or GP uses a small blade to shave raised moles off at skin level. This generally leaves minimal, often unnoticeable, scarring.
• Surgical Excision: Used for flat, deep, or large moles. The mole is cut out completely, stitched over with leaving a straight-line scar.
• Laser Treatment: Used for superficial or flat moles, often causing minimal scarring. Larger moles require a number of treatments and might not be suitable.
• Cryotherapy: Involves freezing the mole with liquid nitrogen, often used for smaller, benign growths. Not recommended for larger moles.

Xanthelasma (specifically xanthelasma palpebrarum) are yellowish, soft, benign growths which can be seen flat or slightly raised.
These are deposits of fat (cholesterol) and can develop under the skin of the eyelids, often near the inner corner. While not dangerous themselves, they often indicate high blood cholesterol, liver disease, or an increased risk of cardiovascular disease.

Xanthelasma is a medical condition, which the procedure of electro microsurgery can reduce up to 70%-80% at one session without excision, stitching or leaving a surgical scar.
