We all know that massage reduces stress and relieves aches/pains but more so it teaches us to live inside our body again.
Most of us spend our days, entirely in our heads, thoughts, noise, screens. We loose what neuroscience calls 'interception awareness' the ability to read internal signals such as tension, emotion, safety.
We stop trusting ourselves, we miss what our nervous system is trying to tell us.
Massage doesn't just relax muscles, it reminds the brain that it has a body - and that body has things to say!
When did you feel truly at home in your body?
I currently have some availability next week if you'd like to tune in and reconnect! ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ™

I've been working from my home treatment room on marine square for 18 years now! The decor has changed abit over that time but it's always and will continue to be a safe space for you to leave the world and anything you have going on, outside, tune into your body and reconnect with yourself ๐Ÿ™โค๏ธ

Our bodies are not only organised as individual muscles but through interconnected fascial chains (myofascial lines) that when working harmoniously together, distribute tension, maintain posture and coordinate movement efficiently.

Understanding these lines can be helpful in identifying compensation patterns, reduced mobility, postural deviations and soft tissue pain.

Lateral line. Stabilises the body from side, maintaining balance during walking, running, single leg stance and lateral movements. Dysfunction contributes to hip drop, ankle instability, IT band related problems.

Spiral line. Transfers forces between upper and lower body, maintaining rotational control and gait mechanics. Restrictions create postural twists and limited rotation.

Superficial back line. Supports upright posture and forward bending. Tightness can be felt in hamstrings, plantar fasciitis and lower back strain.

Superficial front line. Balances the back body, supports posture, breathing mechanics and flexion. Restrictions resulting in rounded shoulders, anterior pelvic tilt and neck tension.

Regular massage, stretching, strengthening and correct movement can help restore balance and optimal function to these interconnected fascial chains ๐Ÿ™
