Here's how the conversation went during our consultation, bare in mind, whilst I know this lady, I've never done her hair...

"I never like my hair after having it done at a salon. I always end up putting a black box dye on as soon as I get home"

"What is it that you don't like about it usually?"

"It's always yellow, ginger & I hate those tones, and it's what I always end up with, so I've always got black box dye on hand as an emergency"

(You can imagine my face, heart race & the pressure I felt, surely!)

- the fight I had on my hands was, red box dye & then a black box dye over the top of that....

Fast forward 4 hours, a full head teasylights, toner, bond repair & cut blowdry...

Come the end of the appointment, Aneesa tried her hardest to find something she didn't like 🤣 (it was a laugh) and couldn't, even her husband loved it!!! My nervous system could return to a normal state & my heart rate finally dropped 😭

*I can confirm 10 days later, she still hasn't box dyed it black!

Whilst I'm already very busy behind the chair, I will always do my best to fit in new people, if that means working longer days, then so be it - my happy place is behind the chair, doing hair ❤️

It's been a whole year of Hair by Amy, at Donna's hair & beauty.

Words fail me here because a year ago, I would have never imagined 365 days on, I would be the happiest & most confident version of myself. A version that I honestly didn't think existed.

The last 3 years have been somewhat of a struggle 👀
Ending my marriage, having to live with the ex husband & then to top it off, have the worst possible lie spread about you, around the village I grew up in, the village I now finally get to call home.

Fast forward ⏩- let's talk about the positive things that have happened...
I divorced my husband 🤣😭
I sold my marital home 🎉
I started working at a new location 💇🏼‍♀️
Liv & I bought our first home together 🏠
My baby stinkerbelle celebrated her 10th birthday 🐶🎈
Liv proposed to me 🥹❤️
I've been at Donna's hair & beauty for a whole year ❤️

Whilst time has flown, it's flown in the best of ways and I am honestly so so grateful to every client who walks through the door, sits in my chair, recommends my business & supports me through my whacky life. Without my Liv, mum, dad & Donna by my side, I don't know where I'd actually be right now - without my clients choosing me, over and over again, hair by Amy wouldn't exist.

I built this business, on my own, in my parents back garden. That client list is mine, whilst other people can replicate what you do, they cannot replicate who you are.

A WHOLE YEAR, ROLL ON THE NEXT ❤️

This colour was a proper transformation after the hair had been left with uneven colour, noticeable banding and a lack of dimension following a previous salon visit (not me).

Rather than trying to cover everything with one colour, we wanted to work with the existing canvas and strategically rebuild the dimension.

We went in with a full chunky weave balayage, creating stronger, intentional pieces of lightness throughout the hair while keeping enough depth between them to give the colour a much more seamless, dimensional finish.

A soft face frame was added to brighten and open up the front, without making the overall result too blonde or harsh.

The remaining hair left out between the balayage pieces was coloured with Redken 05NW + 05N, helping to neutralise the unevenness and create a richer, more consistent base.

We then finished with a root smudge using 05NW + 04NB to soften the transition from the natural root and blend everything together.

Finally, a global gloss of 08HC + 010NB + 09G brought the whole colour together — adding that beautiful warm, creamy, expensive-looking tone and shine. 🤎✨

The result? Much more balance, depth and dimension, with brighter pieces exactly where we want them and no harsh bands competing throughout the hair.

A reminder that colour correction isn’t always about going lighter — sometimes it’s about adding depth, strategically placing lightness and bringing the whole canvas back to basics, without being basic. 🤍
