Autumn is such a lovely time to come to the boat. It’s getting cosy inside, the countryside is starting to change and you can spend a few hours away from everything while I get your dreads looking and feeling good again.

Whether you need a root tidy, maintenance, repairs or you’re thinking about starting your dreadlock journey, you’re very welcome aboard.

Tallulah is my home and my little floating studio, and she travels along the Kennet & Avon Canal, so your appointment might take you somewhere you’ve never been before.

Come for the dreads, stay for the coffee, chats, countryside and a few hours of slowing down.

Yesterday, Lore made the trip out to my boat for a much-needed root tidy on his beautiful mature locks.

It had been a while, so we had a lovely session catching up while I worked. I usually travel to see Lore in Bristol, but this time he decided to come to me and make a relaxing day out of it instead.

He told me how much he’d enjoyed the drive, winding through the Wiltshire countryside, and how peaceful he felt by the time he arrived.

And honestly, I can see why.

I’m currently moored near All Cannings Long Barrow, not far from Avebury, surrounded by some of the most beautiful ancient landscapes. There’s something pretty magical about this part of Wiltshire — open countryside, ancient sites and a sense of space that makes the journey here feel like part of the experience.

Come for your locks. Stay for the landscape.

Heading back from my holiday in Brittany today. It's been a wonderful 10 days with my family exploring enchanted forests, stone circles and white sandy beaches 🤩

I am super excited to be trading at the UK's first ever dreadlock convention on Sunday 23rd August in Glastonbury.

I will be there selling hand forged and handmade ritual tools and my new range of wooden dread beads.

I will be there alongside other magical traders and very talented dreadlock artists from around the country.

This transformation was a special one. 

My client came to me wanting to create a drullet. He had wanted dreads for years but with male pattern baldness progressing he decided now was time to go for it.

He had been growing his hair for a while especially to create the drullet and add dreadlock extensions for the length and look he wanted.

He was understandably pretty anxious about making such a big change, so we spent plenty of time before the appointment talking through what was possible, what I was going to do and how everything would work. Throughout the appointment we kept checking in and making sure he was happy with how it was coming together.

For me, appointments like this aren't about rushing someone into the chair and getting the job done.

Especially when you're making a big change to your hair, you need to feel comfortable, listened to and involved in the process.

The end result was amazing and my client was over the moon with his new drullet.

He got the new look he wanted and his dream hair created around his hair, his vision and what felt right for him.

Heya,  I'm Stacey! I have a lot of new followers so I thought I should do a new introduction post. 

I'm the face behind Dreads 'n' Threads, and I specialise in creating, maintaining and repairing dreadlocks from my narrowboat that I cruise between Bath and Pewsey. I also offer a mobile service and I cover Wiltshire, Somerset, Bristol and Gloucestershire.

This isn't your typical salon, my boat moves to a new location every two weeks and I am most often moored out on nature surrounded by trees or rolling hills so every visit to me is an adventure.

My clients often travel from all over the UK. As they step aboard and I pop the kettle on and they are enthusiastically greeted by my Romanian rescue dog, Pippin. My cat may also put in an appearance and loves to sit on my clients laps.  We spend the day chatting while I work my magic on their hair. It's relaxed, unrushed and a world away from the hustle of a high street salon.

I absolutely love a transformation. Whether you're starting your dreadlock journey, rescuing DIY dreads that need some love, or just keeping mature locks looking their best, my goal is always the same: to create dreadlocks that feel authentic to you.

When I'm not making dreadlocks, you'll usually find me wandering through the woods with my dog, foraging for wild herbs, tending to my plants, or exploring the waterways that I call home.
