Dreadlock creation and maintenance. Dread and hair decorating - wraps, beads, hair feathers and ha From that moment on I was hooked.

I fell in love with dreadlocks in 2008 and finally had mine installed in 2009. I have had several sets of dreadlocks since then, installed and maintained by myself. I have also spread the dread love around installing and maintaining locks on my worldly travels. Now, back in Bristol I want to spread the dreadvolution further. So if you want dreads, or your dreads need some love then give me a shout

A root to tip tidy for V from the other week.

I love our appointments and the beautiful deep chats we have, the connections I have with my clients are one of my favourite things about my job.....I am not very good at small talk and we go deep! Every appointment is educational in one way or another. Every day is a school day after all.

I am booking now for all types of dread work for June, July and August.

If you want a unique experience getting your locks tended to on a narrow boat out in nature then I am your gal. Every appointment is as unique as my clients and every appointment is an adventure!

If this calls to you please message me for a chat. I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Lots of love x

Hi loves,

I have a few appointments left at the end of the month I would love to fill.

I have space for:

Dread maintenance
Dread rescuing/repair/restyles
Dread creation with or without extensions
Synthetic extension installs
Fresh ends
Custom human hair Dreadlock extensions

All appointments are onboard my boat and I am currently in the Bradford on Avon area. If you need me to travel to you let me know and I will see if I can.

With over 18 years working with all hair types you are in good hands with me.

I use gentle crochet techniques with no products or root ties.

Have a fabulous week x

The importance of separating your roots!

Heya dread heads,

Please don't forget to keep on top of separating your roots.

If you do not your dreads will have a cuddle puddle on your head, all join together and become one ✌🏼

It might be that we are all one and connected but this is not good for your dreads or your scalp!

Leaving your dreads to join together can cause tension spots where hairs are being pulled too much. They can also cause tension headaches.

Underneath the matting you will not get air to your scalp which can cause issues with your skin. You will end up with a build up of hair oils and dirt and you will not be able to wash your roots or scalp properly.

The best time to separate your dreads is after washing. If you don't wash your dreads very often it's good to check them every few weeks.....once a week is ideal.

You can pull the dreads apart if they are only just starting to join together. You can ask a trusted person to gently and carefully cut them apart if they are not too bad, but if they get bad then please contact your local loctitian for help.

A little life update from Dreads ‘n’ Threads ✨

I’ve been quietly battling some pretty significant physical and mental health struggles behind the scenes for a while now, and I’ve reached the point where I need to listen to my body and slow things down a bit before I completely burn myself into the ground.

Because of this, I’ll be reducing my working hours for the foreseeable future.

This business means the world to me and I care deeply about every single client who sits in my chair, so this decision has been incredibly difficult to make. But I need to create something sustainable so that I can continue doing the work I love long-term, rather than pushing myself past my limits trying to keep up with everything.

What this means practically:
• Fewer appointments available each month
• Longer wait times for bookings
• Slower replies at times while I prioritise rest and recovery
• Being more protective of my time and energy

Thank you to everyone who has supported my little business, shown patience, kindness and understanding, recommended me to friends, trusted me with your hair, and helped keep this dream alive. I genuinely appreciate it more than you know ❤️

Thank you for sticking with me while I navigate this chapter.

Big love,
Dreads ‘n’ Threads

Next came to visit me on Tallulah today to have a partial head of synthetic dreads installed.

I don't make synthetic dreads myself due to sensory issues with the hair and because I don't like that the hair is made out of plastic. Although it can be worn multiple times, it eventually ends up in landfill and that doesn't sit right with me.

I offer a judgement free space so if you choose to wear these types of dreads that's cool with me, I am happy to install them for you. You just need to bring the dreads you want to your appointment for me to fit.

The dreads my client bought with her today are made by . They make beautiful extensions.

Alternatively you can use wool or human hair dreadlock extensions if you wanted an alternative to the plastic ones. I don't make wool dreads but I can make you human hair ones. I made a set of single ended ones the other day for a client. I will post those pictures very soon.
